The potaras raise the power of the fused being to a higher dimension compared to it's parts.
So what is a higher dimension of power compared to 2 immortal goddesses?

With the all white body, Luna doesn't seem to get an equal portion of the design. The hair and wings are great but the body needs more blue.

This makes me think of the conclusion of the Full Metal Alchemist series, where Alphonse is asking about the sun being male and the moon being female, that when the moon eclipsed the sun it would be god. I bet the power level is of a similar standard.

Celuna dominates Discord as his chaos magic is no match for her galactic powers.
But defeating him is not enough as she has to rescue the ponies caught in his chaos dimension.
So she feints letting her guard down leading Discord to try and imprison her in his chaos dimension, too.
Unbeknownst to him Celuna could shield her soul and mind from his corrupting influence, so her body get's transported harmlessly to his chaos dimension.
However since she is cut off from her home galaxy and her source of power the fusion breaks and they become Luna and Celestia again.
While Discord is distracted with celebrating his victory, the sisters free all ponies in the chaos dimension from his corruption and mind control and manage to flee back to Equestria.
With all the ponies back Celestia and Luna combine the magic of the entire pony race into a harmony bomb and blast Discord out of existence.

neat but I would have thought start nebulous hair, like instead of just a dark star backdrop it's got all the colors of celestias hair with Lunas motif.
