Anyways, yeah, this is Rose. Tried to stick with the description in the story, but I forgot the white shirt. In case you can't tell, the first is her fully dressed, then the next two drawings show what she's wearing beneath. Vest and shirt. :>

This is absolutely fabulous! I just keep scrolling up to look at the details, and I keep giggling because it's so fun. I hadn't thought of a black hat for her design, but I think it's rather fetching. Her scarf is perfect, as is her coat, and oh my god she's wearing a waistcoat. That--oh my god, that has to be a thing in her design now. (People keep hitting my design kinks! Aaagh!)
I could just hug her, this is so downright adorable. Thank you so much for doing this and posting it! 8D

Yes... Yes she does. I tried to carry some of the details from her canon design to this one, see. :>
About the black hat, I tried to keep the colours kind of balanced, and I thought a brown/dark brown hat would be too much along with the brown coat, and since Rose already likes wearing dark clothes, I thought more black couldn't be a negative. I added a waistcoat because I thought a coat over a shirt seemed kind of, I dunno, scarce. But then again, I also imagine Alternia as a very warm place in the day but cold at night, so she couldn't be dressed too heavily nor too scarcely.
The pleasure is all mine, it was so much fun to design this and really great training for drawing clothes, I think. It really is a plus that you like it as well. 8D
Also, a question sort of popped up in my head while drawing: That scarf... Did it belong to Rose's mum? I just thought since her scarf is also pink and very long. A relic of the past of sorts?

If it's not terribly obvious by now, I have no eye for fashion or design, so every time people come up with something interesting for what I've written, I tend to go along with it because it always works better because it's actually got realistic detail. For that reason, I do like the design of a black hat and the waistcoat, especially given your reasoning for them. It's all just so fun.

Well, I too have a hard time with fashion and design, though it's easier when you draw, I think. I guess when you write you have this sort of vague, general idea of what your character looks like? I have no idea. : x

What winds up happening in my head is that I see characters and their motions--but not necessarily the designs of their clothing. For some reason, I'm a really visual writer in all other aspects. Clothes just don't factor into my head, I suppose.
The hat will be revealed, no worries.
