Ooh, I'm glad you asked.

Heh, I wish I had something that could erase marker.

For pretty much all of the marker pics with those kind of highlights, I sort of 'draw' their outline, and fill in the surrounding space. (However, I screwed that one up here, so I added the highlights back in with a white pastel pencil)

In the case of the markers I use myself, I'll often use a colorless blender (or a lighter version of the color itself) to make the transition from the color to the highlight less harsh.

So yeah, I pre-determine where it should go.

Eh I assumed so, still thank you for the reply. I can see it's a pretty high-risk high reward kind of technique so good job on being mostly successful at it, but I can only take a wild guess how many times you screwed up in order to get good at it.

Anyway, hope I didn't sound like a soulless, rude parasite that just came here to pick up tips. Have a llama and a watch good sport, I'll be looking forward to your art. Though, hopefully you'll understand if I don't turn out to be a very active follower, while I love your art style and how your art looks in general, most of what your art is about is not really my forte, but still I'll try to drop a honest and unbiased comment and a favorite here and there.

heh, yeah, I've done a lot of highlights and stuff, so keeping at it is the best way to do it in my opinion.

don't worry about it, I'm glad you took the time to comment on a pic, and even ask in depth about the process behind it, so you're already a step above the rest.
