Naw, that's actually what hooked me.
My first experience with Friendship is Magic was through a parody where they basically played Rainbow Dash as a Sonic the Hedgehog spoof. It wasn't until I watched the actual episode that I found out the only thing they really changed about her was throwing Sonic the Hedgehog references.
That's when I decided I was, beyond a shadow (the hedgehog) of a doubt a brony.

I can see how people can come to this conclusion. However, Rainbow Dash is based off of Lauren Faust's concept of a G1 pony named Firefly. So any similarities between Dash and Sonic are coincidental.
