Description Hey,

First off, I meant to post this last night, but the internet completely copped out on me and the computer was being so obnoxiously slow, I just couldn't do it. My sanity was at stake for a hopeless cause.

But here I am, the day after, healthy and without a straighjacket.

So, this is an interesting piece. Here's why. What is now (one of my personal favorite ideas) called Snailsvenue used to be entitled "Freakshow." The character designs have been changed around and such, and things are different from the way they were back then. But some of the characters, I never got around to redesigning (even in sketching stages) and so I went back to the Snailsvenue roots to look at what I enjoyed so much back then.

So what I did was I took an older piece of mine (which can be found here: [link] ) and pretty much revamped it to match my current talents.

I am really proud of this one. I think I'm starting to come into my own with digital painting. It also helped me realize how much I like some of my older designs a little better than some of my new ones.

Side note: I was going to do a background for this, but I lack the proper resource called time. If and when I do a background for it, I'll let you all know.

Lineart: Adobe Illustrator CS Color: Adobe Photoshop CS Time: Nearly 20 hours, I think.

Enjoy, and please FULL VIEW!

Another side note: I'm already thinking about doing the bottom half of that old piece, just to feel a little more complete, but I dont suppose that'll be for a while now. You'll know when it happens, though.

You're welcome!

I was hoping you wouldn't be offended that I compared your style to someone elses. Some artists are sensitive like that.

I like the lineart, and the coloring is very well done. I just wish you didn't put too much copyright words. But I guess, you have to be careful nowadays since art can be stolen easily. Still, you did an excellent job! I'm now one of your fan!

Yeah, I learned from that mistake. I'm trying to figure out a good, subtle way to do watermarks. ^_^

Thank you so much! (For the record, I knew someone as intelligent as you would have only ever accidentally spelled "until" incorrectly, so I wouldn't have held it against you, but whatever works)

To address your comment, I have to say that the most fun part about this piece was the fact that I was able to flatter myself, if you will. I respect myself as an artist enough to say that Iv'e gotten better while still enjoying my older work, which is why I dont believe I have ever deleted a piece of work here on DA. I want people to see how far Iv'e come, not just how I do things now.

Good, cause I hate it when artists delete stuff from their galleries.

Me too. I always found it to be sort of a sign of weakness, if you will. Harsh, I know, but that's how I feel.

W.O.W. I knew your syle had changed, but I had no idea how much intil I clicked that link! I still like your old style or course, it's got a very Helquist/Gorey type of feel to it. But again, wow. What a long way you've come!

Wow, what a rendition. Its fun to always look back on old works and get ideas and spruce them up and all that ^^

and now i have an even better sense of the evil zoe..bleh lol

You've probably known these characters longer than anybody else on DA (besides myself). How do you feel about the changes?

Yeah, it was a fun piece to do. There were a lot of times I didn't feel like finishing it, but I knew I had to because of how nice it was looking.

Yup, Zoe's kind of...green-skinned. It was a good way to make her look oily and gross to add to that evilness that is her character.

Pockaru In reply to DrewGreen [2007-03-19 22:01:05 +0000 UTC]

heh, yeah, green, i noticed that about her. Makes her even uglier :3

The changes are very dramatic, but thats apparent.
I just remember the days at your house while you tried to teach me how to make those characters.
Heh, wow, such a long time ago, with their round heads and all ^^ Good times.

I'm really liking the "painted" feel all your images seem to have now, very professional & pleasing to the eye. ^^
