Description Hi there guys!

So I was sitting in front of my computer last night, trying to think up something to draw, and I looked to my left and saw on my art desk a printout of the original seven kids of Bowser, the Koopalings. Then an idea sprung into my mind.

See, for as long as I can remember, I've loved these guys, and my favorite of the bunch is Roy. Problem is, they're hardly relevant in Nintendo's current agenda; they were set to make an appearance in both Super Princess Peach and New Super Mario Bros. (even having sprites buried in the assets of the cartridge for the former), but perhaps through some unholy, demonic misfortune, they were denied their amazing, well-deserved comeback. This bugs me, so I'd like to be able to show some support for one of my favorite gaming characters, Roy Koopa, in the form of a T-shirt.

My favorite of the few images of Roy is the official artwork of Super Mario World (an image you can see here: [link] ), and after looking closely at it, I realized I could very easily recreate the image in Adobe Illustrator for infinite resizeability and awesomeness. So I did just that. Think of it as restoring a classic painting like the Mona Lisa, only the outcome is much cooler.

Whenever I have some money to spare, I'd like to see about having him printed out on a T-shirt all nice and crispy-like. Having a vector image makes that a very easy goal to achieve.

Make no mistake, this is traced and I am not trying to pass it off as anything but a traced image. But I figured since I actually put some effort into it, I would put it in my scraps and let the rest of you see it. Plus, for all of you Koopalings fans out there, it's really nice to see the best image of one of our favorite villains in better quality than we've been able to find on the internet.

The recreation isn't 100% exact, by the way. I changed the color of the lines from black to dark brown, and there are a couple of tiny-barely noticeable hiccups. But I was working over a very small image that was blown up to a much bigger size, making the transition difficult.

Anyway, I'm rambling. It is 3AM, after all.

Adobe Illustrator CS, about an hour and a half of work.

Enjoy!

Original image is the property of Nintendo, this version of the image was created by me, Andrew Green, and is not for use by others in any way, shape, or form. So don't steal it or I'll turn your king into an animal using my stolen magic wand.

Thank you! It's not so difficult, really. It just takes a little bit of ingenuity and know-how.

That's a really cool idea! I think this would look really awesome on a shirt! What color shirt do you think? I'm thinking red, maybe gray, even plain white. But you'd probably follow your classic "Freakshow6 Pink" color, wouldn't you?

I'm strange, I love pink, but I rarely wear it for some reason. XD Believe it or not, I'm thinking of yellow. If you've ever seen the iconic, simple box art of Super Mario Bros. 3 (where these guys originate) of Raccoon Mario flying in front of a yellow background, you'll understand that it's really the best choice.

You can see that here: [link]

Yeah, I remember that cover. Super Mario 3 was my absolute favorite NES game! I was actually going to use that same cover as an entry for your past contest, I was just going to put Peach with a raccoon tail and ears in place of Mario. My computer broke, though, and I had no way of using my Adobe Photoshop. T_T

Duh! I should have thought of yellow! It was SO obvious!!

Raccoon Peach? That...would be an awesome game.

Do you have a DS? If so, have you ever played Super Princess Peach?

I just got my DS Lite for Easter (after my old DS got lost by someone inconsiderate a couple years ago) So I'm behind the times on what new. I'll have to check that game out! I like playing as Peach, it's what I've dreamed of since way back when I was playing Super Mario on NES: "Why can't I be the Princess and save Mario from impending doom?"

Well, lucky you, that's what Super Princess Peach is all about! Word to the wise, though; it's not a terribly tough game. But it's fun enough.

And hey, you could play as peach in Super Mario Bros. 2 on the NES. That's where her floating ability originated.

Aww, too cool!!

I never got to play that game growing up, unfortunately. I was only allowed three games way back when I had an NES. So I had Super Mario 1 and 3 and the Legend of Zelda, that's it T_T I keep missing the chance to play it now as an adult which I keep annoying myself with.

Very cool I'd certainly think someone sporting a Koopaling shirt is one hip cat!

... of course my use of that phrase probably negates my opinion on such things o.o'

I think the "hippest cats" are the ones who use the term "hip cat" without ever feeling like they've lost their cool. ;D

Thanks for the comment! Glad you like it!
