good idea and result. If you wanted more impact you could easily select the white and replace it with a gnarly blue or something irridescent

Thanks Jake. A good artist never gives his secrets away but since you're asking I shall share. Basically just overexposed shot of the fern from underneath it, the blown out whites are the sky. That simple really.

I'd never have guessed, looks like a studio shot, taken against a lightbox with some ps work. Knowing this is done "in the field" makes it even better.
