SPOILERS FOR THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: LINK'S AWAKENING!!!!!!I keep wanting to give this a proper outline, but it just seems to work better as a sketch. This is fanart for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening that I drew a couple weeks ago. I've always thought it cool that the final boss is the incarnation of Link's nightmares rather than the Wind Fish's. It was pretty ominous, and pretty dark too. It climaxes with a fight against what seems to be Vaati, although Link's Awakening came out so long before Four Swords that I think the similarities to Vaati are coincidential at best.
Anyway, just a picture of Dethl, one of the most menacing and yet also one of the most mysterious final bosses in the series.

Dethl was "born of nightmares", thus implying it is literally a manifestation of all the things people fear in the world. This being is fear incarnate, a living Nightmare. Thus, no matter who faced it, it could take the form of anyone's deepest fears. And the only thing the Bearer of Courage fears...is the Bearer of Power.
All that aside, this is an excellent drawing of the Nightmare King. The atmosphere, Dethl's single eye casting the shadow of Ganon over Link's tiny-by-comparison form, and the veins throbbing in the eyeball all make this a perfect addition to our little fanclub.
