I think it's absolutely adoreable. very nice sculpture though. I'm really digging the contrasting colours and the little hairs sticking out of it's body.

oh cool soo.. what are they? heh Terryl Whitlitch is my all time fav artist [link] her newist book Animals Real and Imagined is one of my most beloved books now [link] right next to another book by her "wildlife of star wars" [link] i want her DVDs soo bad [link] [link] she has worked on so menny things i love i hope to see more stuff by her soon

They're called Dinkas, but there is actually a more colloquial term that is used by the other indigenous population (they claim to have moved to that world first). They basically just rut around in the soil like chickens and give themselves dust baths. The tongue is long and sticky like an anteaters which they use to scoop up the many tiny arthropods crawling around in the soil.
I like Terryl and will have to get her book (I think I'm 2 books behind in collecting her stuff). Thanks for the info!
