Description I got tired of looking for custom wallpapers that carry the "Vista/OSX" look and feel without cluttering up the space with clunky logos. So I created my own.

I have use that technique for several different things but it wasn't what I was looking for to finish this image. It is a nice effect though.

check out the links.. they are tutorials that show you how to make the "vista strands" lighting effects. the work really well..

I've tried and used those ones.. they don't work as well as mine IMO. You see those ones are way too bright and they aren't focused.. they cover the whole thing, which IMO looks incredibly ugly. My way you can literally paintbrush the strands to illuminate certain parts of it so it doesn't all look like a light sabre or some shit lol

And it doesn't look as good when it's more like a gaussian blur effect where it's kind of circular and only following the strand.. it looks messy/sloppy xD

I kinda do my own thing when it comes to the effects I use on the created strands. And I agree, the tutorials are too bright in many ways but thats something we can adjusts as the artist.

Yeah The beauty of art lol

It's funny because any major breakthroughs I've had personally trying to make anything.. they've all been accidental lol. But I guess you can't complain with results

I guess I know where that image came from now. I will link it up. Although it is not one of the images I used to start the process it is one of the images I used in the 11 layer comp.
