Description A pair of mourning doves on our patio. Holy crap, these guys are shy. We normally have Eurasian Collard Doves, and they pretty much ignore us. The mourning doves freak at the slightest sound or movement...but then again, this is the first we've seen them here, so they still have to get used to us.

Aww, I absolutely love it! Mourning doves are so sweet; I wish that I had them. Just recently they were trying to pass a bill in my state about adding mourning doves to the list of official game . Fortunately the proposal was defeated .

Thank you! It's so cool that you said that. The mourning doves are killing me. The eurasian collard doves basically land on top of you. They don't care about humans, but the mourning doves spook at the slightest sound. I was so happy to actually snap one!

That's just stupid. Hunting may have a point, but something like a mourning dove is just wrong, it's not like we have flocks of them blocking out the sky and threatening the crops.

Yes, I know . I love them dearly. Lol not only are they not threatening the crops or blocking out the sky, but a good deal of them around here don't even move out of the middle of the road when a car approaches. Still, one of the arguments that local hunters were making to support the proposal (they really wanted to use them for target practice) was that they were "a good challenge" on "the hunt."

Update, the mourning doves have stopped being so shy. They and their cousins, the eurasia collard doves don't freak when we're outside anymore. Yes, they look a little like pigeons. No, they're nothing like pigeons.

Wow, thank you. I'm in the middle of a conversation with my wife right now about if I'm a poser, or if I actually know what I'm doing. I'm trying, but I don't want to be a joke. Thanks again!

Does it reeeeally matter either way?
I say look at the art, not the artist.
And you have wonderful art.
