This is a colored version of the piece above. I kind of rushed it towards the end because my hand started cramping. Time is short because I'll be leaving the country soon. BUT! It was colored on Corel Painter 12. I'd like critiques and opinion please. Even if you don't like it, leave a comment.

Critiquing on behalf of Project Comment.

Hoho, quite the surrealist piece of work. I kind of wished you retained some of the blacks in the water from your black and white version of the piece - it made it stand out much stronger, and almost implied something other than water, something darker. Of course, I've been on an indie comic binge over the past couple months, so maybe I'm just preferring the pen and ink indie art aesthetic over the coloring here.

The puddle around his feet comes off a bit uneven, like he's on kind of wobbly ground - if it were steadily streaming off of him like that, I would have expected a much more even puddle around him - again, if the stuff was implied to be something other than water, it would work out pretty well, implying a sort of deliberate nature behind the fluid, but with water, it comes off a bit off.

Great piece though.

Thanks for the critique! TO be honest, my original intention was to make the water multi-colored. Kind of like a rainbow, good vibe, blah blah blah, kind of feeling. But I then felt that I was much more comfortable with a somewhat morose feeling that came from simply making it a deep blue.

But I feel you on the thick deep lines. Kind of like this? [link]
I don't really have a set style, some I'm always trying to work with different things. I really appreciate the critique.

This is definitely eye-catching! It makes a viewer wonder about the story behind it and makes them really look at and take in the detail of the artwork. That is always a good thing!
In my opinion the colours work well together and add to the mood of the scene, without taking attention away from what's import in the art.

Hey, thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment! Overall, it took me a little longer than I anticipated. But when does artwork not, and I really am proud of it in particular because I have such little time to put into things these days.

It's quite interesting! The blue contrasts nicely with the yellowish background and the bubbles are a nice touch. I also see the number five throughout it, but I'm not really sure it that's actually there or if it's just wishful thinking. :3

Thank you A friend of mine said that she thinks it would make for a good soda ad, well, she said it about the inked drawing. Not this one. I can see the humor.
