The small Ecclesiast-Kingdom of Ellesta boasts a devout, religious people who are very much proud of their isolationism, to be and let be. Lately, however, the seeds of discontentment have been sown among the Ellestians with regard to their Sovereign, the Popess Anaste, because of questions put forward by her own leading clergy and her Inner Council. They declare that she is too self-indulgent, too worldly, that her own attire is far too provocative.

Yet could these seeds of doubt and mistrust merely be a way to deflect from the fact that their young Sovereign has called into question the leading clergy's long-standing policies of isolationism and pacifism in light of rumors that dragons have been sighted far to the north of their lands, nesting in the frozen wastes and mountains, and that strange and fierce wild men of sudden unknown origin have been abducting women from the southern edges of their towns, burning and pillaging as they go? Could these sudden occurrences, and the sudden desire to remove her from the seat of power, also be because she has been getting ever closer to uncovering decades of deeply rooted scandals that have remained hidden, but are now coming to light because of the election of a young, neutral ruler who was supposed to be the answer that would satisfy both factions of the clergy, but is proving to be their own undoing?
