I shall never forget that day. We were traveling on foot - on foot! - deep into Garlean territory, escorting carriages, in what we forever recalled as a frosty reception on account of the extraordinarily freezing cold winds and snow, when we were ambushed by the tempered forces of the IIIrd Legion, led by Vergilia van Corculum. There, standing firm, unmoved, unshaken, her hair whipping in that freezing wind, her battle staff at the ready, was the Warrior of Light, our dearest friend and most stalwart companion. I don't know why. I really can't explain it, but somehow, in those moments, which I relive so frequently in my mind, I never felt so proud, so strengthened, so uplifted. I don't know if she realizes just how much she has led so many into battle and into victory, just because when so many would cower in fear or flee in terror, she alone refuses to back down.
