Edit: HDR-ed the image and overlayed it at 50% with the original to make it less extreme.

Hey, take a look at my gallery and you'll know that 95% of the time I'm a color person, but sometimes there's no denying that black and white just fits, and this was one of those times.
I gave the saturation a shot, but I hardly noticed the difference for whatever reason.

It's an idea I had been thinking of for a good while. The reason it's probably so different is because it was going to be a traditional piece before realized I could pull it off as a photograph.

Very cool picture. The combination of a gas mask and a suit is either darkly amusing or surreal, or both. I like it.

My photos are only rarely symbolic. My drawings usually are. In this case, it was going to be a drawing initially, so it's got all the surrealism I would have squeezed into pencil work.
I could probably make a habit of it, particularly as I will no longer be traveling with the frequency of before.

I had you in mind when I came up with the idea.

The suit was my great grandfathers, vintage 1940. The mask is Cold War surplus, c.1960s. The book is equally old, being a 1950s print of Emerson.
