A commission collaboration with the wicked awesome *ESDA06 . This figure is on Patch Together and needs your vote!

Chaimu-Kane's character sheet got a large reaction from my watchers, so I thought I'd submit his design. Mostly to see if he'll make it to final figure stage, but also because a figure of him would make me squee uncontrollably.
Chaimu-Kane inhabits the magicpunk trilogy I've been fiddling with for about 18 months.

Chaimu-Kane is an inugami, a dog of death. Inugami are assigned a human lineage to protect, in this life and the next. Within the spirit realm, inugami protect the heavenly territory that the ancestors have earned. When a member dies, they hear the tolling of the inugami's bell as it appears to lead them home. But enemies of fate and destiny threaten the mortal plane; inugami can be called by living descendants, to defend them from deaths not decreed by divine will.

Oh and btw, how much does it cost for you to make a figurine like this?

I don't think it costs anything. I think the designer gets paid a portion of the figures's sales.

Ah, that's pretty cool.

I was just wondering if there was a cost at first to get the figurine made and then buy a portion to sell. Then you're able to make up that money by selling the figurines at your own price and paying back what is due to the manufacturers, while keeping a small profit for yourself.

Awesome! I'm so voting for this~

Was the last paragraph explaining the Inugami made-up or is it actually explained in the inugami myth?

It's made up; those are the rules for the fantasy world he inhabits. Real inugami myths are a little more voodoo or dark magic: one created an inugami by burying a dog up to its head and starving it with food just out of reach. The spirit of the dog would then become beholden to its creator because of the offerings, and you could sic it on people, make it guard places, or even get possessed by it.

Yeah, I kinda figured it was made up but I wasn't too sure. I was just curious because I have an old book on Japanese myths and when I came upon this and read that part I was all "Wait, did I miss something?" so that's why I asked. Thank you for replying back~!

This is pretty awesome Droe. Do I detect a hint of inspiration from your favorite four-legged pup?

To say the least. He's not the only character inspired by my Rotts, but he's the first to look like them more directly.

I could see it right away with the paws, ears, and face.

This guy would make one badass figurine.

I just have a question's all. Wouldn't "inugami" mean like, "dog god"?

Also wow those are some pretty killer knuckles. Nice scrawny back legs, too! I hope he makes it.

Inugami are particularly associated with shikigami, which are gods of death. I figured for the sake of brevity; since they're all about protection and guardianship.

Well if PT doesn't go over well, we can take him directly to Gensen Figure instead of having PT do the mediator/money thing. The catch is you gotta provide the money and ship everything yourself like we do for the BBA figurines, but you get total control of the project.

I don't know if I'd go that route without it being part of a book promotion, and the story in question is a long way from getting published. It'd be nice to keep Gensen in mind for that, but in the meantime ... I do very hope that PT comes through.
