Description So, yeah. Still plugging away at 3D. I'm a little over the halfway point and only have two more things left to model. This will eventually be Iapyx, even though he looks a little too Quarter Horse-ish. But I'm pleased. I mean, horses are pretty hard and this looks halfway decent for someone who's spent a grand total of 2 semesters in Studiomax.
Tell me I'm good.

Great job for such a newcomer to the program. I might suggest -- his hind pasterns should be at the same angle as his front pasterns, if you are going for anatomically correct.

But what if I don't wanna tell you you're good?

I like though. I imagine they are really hard... My one issue is that the eye looks really creepy... Might look a lot better when its not so... shadowy? I guess... I really have no clue what I'm talking about. XD

Yeah, the eye was one of the hardest parts to get right. I'm hoping the texture will make things look better. I think it's that in RL, the eye of a horse is so dark that we expect it. And seeing one with ghost-eyes or tiger eyes makes you go "Guh! Whoa! Frog eyes!"

I bet they were. I also figure the light/shadow/color/texture thing has a LOT to do with it. So Imma gonna wait till you get that done before I start making fun... critiquing the work.

It looks awesome. It's really interesting to see how the body is shaped from all the different viewpoints. Plus, he's in a nice color.

I dunno. He might need a multicolored mane and a butt insignia.

One thing I will mention is if you are trying to work on shape, make a basic model in 3DS Max and then try taking this into Sculptris or Zbrush as an .obj and play around with it to get the definition as a normal map then apply it to this model in 3DS Max. Trust me. It is a LOT easier.

Well looky here, you've got a horse going! Not half bad, not half bad at all. I think once some of the joints and tendons are smoothed out a bit, you'll have yourself a fine stallion. I'm sure you already know it, but watch for parts of the model looking a bit squared-off; it's a common side effect of box modeling (which I assume was your method?)
