There are many examples of halves/majorities of fandoms that are toxic and unbearable due to being corrupted by their nostalgia of certain things. Many examples include The Paper Mario/Mario Party/Mario Sports/Mario Kart/Luigi's Mansion Fandoms, The Cartoon Community, The Classic Spyro Fandom, etc. However the one we're going to discuss today is one that has effected me personally and ruined my enjoyment of a certain series for the most part; and that is the toxic half of the OG SMG4 Fandom.

For those who don't know, SMG4 is a YouTube channel run by two brothers named Luke and Kevin, it used to be about SM64/Gmod videos about memes and randomness, but after they reached a million subscribers and became mature adults (mostly mature that is), they wanted to try new things and create original characters and story ideas too. And while these new characters and ideas were loved and praised by many........a lot of people in the OG Fandom were not pleased. And by "not pleased," I mean saying a lot of cruel things like "Get rid of the girl characters," "Bring back what old SMG4 has," "Those girls aren't real characters, they only exist for fan-service/to be walking advertisements," "No more sad and edgy arcs, just stupid memes and randomness," etc., and it just ANNOYS THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME!!!!!!!

In all honesty I did used to love SMG4 starting back in 2015-2016, and when Meggy and the other girls came around I honestly didn't mind, in fact I thought they were great characters, but when I first saw comments going against them, my enjoyment for SMG4 started to decline, now I know that sounds silly, but that's how felt personally. At first throughout 2018, I learned to pretty much ignore it, but then when 2019 came around, things only got worse. I saw comments on "Stupid Mario 3D World" with many people saying "This is how all SMG4 videos should be!" and I unfortunately made the mistake of arguing with these people, and it just SHOWED how toxic they truly were. And after the anime arc (which I didn't mind) or more specifically Desti's death, the OG fans only got worse by demanding Luke and Kevin to stop doing arcs and only do meme/randomness videos. And not just that, during the development of the anime arc, the OG Fandom's toxic prejudice against Meggy got so bad, that it (along with the unfortunate behaviors from many members of the Splatoon Gmod/SFM Community, especially SMG4's old friend, Geoff), caused Luke and Kevin to turn Meggy into a human and slowly move away from Splatoon, which at first I was upset about, but after learning more why I do understand Luke and Kevin's reason I got used to Human Meggy more, and I will admit Meggy really did grow more as a character as a human.

However after the anime arc, my enjoyment for SMG4's main videos were pretty much ruined thanks to the toxic half of the OG SMG4 Fandom. And even after the anime arc, even if Luke and Kevin were still doing what they wanted to do, they were also unfortunately making videos such as "SMG4 posted Cringe," or "Mario Raids Area 51," etc. just to appease the greedy wishes of their OG Fandom. And because of that I don't even know whether I should love or hate his newer videos now............but it isn't all bad, I actually do really love the 3 original animated series; Meta Runner, Sunset Paradise, and Murder Drones; very much because it's nice to see how much Luke and Kevin have grown.

Speaking of which, I feel like the toxic OG Fans of SMG4 need to realize that during these "good old days," Luke and Kevin were in their late teens and were pretty much in phases when creating these random videos. And now that they're older, they've mostly grown out of these said phases and want to try new things that they want to do, and they shouldn't always try to appease toxic fans and their selfish wishes/requests. I’m not saying the OG fans have to love the new videos, but they at least need to acknowledge that Luke and Kevin have grown as content creators and the stories they make today are really interesting. Long story short, while their randomness videos from the old days were good, their newer stories are just as good in my opinion. So please, let them evolve and experiment on ideas they want to do.

But the main point is, I honestly don't know how to feel about SMG4's main videos now..........and it's all because of these toxic OG fans, who have pretty much ruined my enjoyment of SMG4 with their toxic ways of selfishness and greed, and honesty need to gain some actual common sense for goodness sake!
