For some reason now I'm picturing her having a trophy room with a wall lined with panties she's taken from her enemies.

LOL, seems like Kalki is building herself a harem if this is her second girlfriend XD

Who's Kalki?
And why does she wear the mask and stuff?

Kalki was theΒ Nidraa'chal'sΒ field commander during their war with the Sharen. Β www.drowtales.com/mainarchive.…

As for the mask, because it's cool?

Ahh...
Why didn't anything in the bio or the description say that?
Seriously, it bugs me how little these pics say about the characters they show.
Especially when this comic has a cast of HUNDREDS.

Limited room. Limited time, and cameos only serve a specific purpose for the chapter they appear in. if you're lost, I suggest you look at the list of cameos created on the website's forums forums.drowtales.com/viewtopic…

IDK. I just wish there was a member of the Drowtales staff that could go all George R. R. Martin on each and every one of these characters in the Drowtales universe.

But by the end of the most recent book, ASoIaF still has a large amount of characters to consider and digest

He still explains who they are and why we should care!
Does anyone but the creator of the cameo character really care that the cameo character is making a cameo?

You've just answered your own question. Most don't care, unless that owner pays to have their character return for another chapter. Cameos are there to fill in what otherwise would be faceless background mooks.

Then why not give people a reason to care by giving them more life and detail than just being a glorified background character?

In addition to the storycrafting reasons already laid out, I would think that there are practical reasons too. It's just a way to say "Hey, you're a fan of this story, and you've got a fan-character or RP character inspired by this universe. Why not support our work by paying to have your character appear in the actual story?"Β Sorta like how some Kickstarter projects will give a similar incentive: "Hey, I'm making a game/comic/whatever. If you donate X amount, you can have a background character modeled after you!"

While it might be interesting to flesh out cameo characters' backstories, in the end that relatively small amount of money doesn't justify such an undertaking on the part of the Drowtales team. It's just an incentive for people to support them financially; more of a token of appreciation, rather than a full commission to depict the cameo characters more fully.Β

Because in the end, the story is (thankfully) about the existing main characters. Putting too much focus on short-lived cameos means these main characters take aback seat. Also, not all cameos are meant to be taken seriously--these are fan creations, not the responsibility of the creative department.

I don't. I'm just a fan that regularly buys cameo spots. I understand what kind of work that gets put in to make all of these crazy things fit into the story, without disrupting the flow and angering fans who just want to see mains.

Could it be done better?

talentualEmbrace In reply to YRPOtaku169 [2013-11-11 11:07:47 +0000 UTC]

It can be done better, but right now it's a lot better than where it was when the cameo thing first started.

In my honest opinion? less flashy, goofy people. More people that look like they belong in the story.
