Apo 7x.

This may be my entry for *f--l--A--r--k 's Apo challenge(at [link] ). This week, the challenge was to make a Disc-Julian style fractal with our own twist (a tut for the basic style can be found at [link] )

The titles for both this series(The Pit and the Pendulum) come from a poem by Edgar Allen Poe. The previous one is The Pit , and this is The Pendulum.

Thank you! in addition to looking for a contrast to its complimentary piece The Pit, i was also trying to bring out the background of this fractal and show the detail hidden beneath while trying to suspend the "object" in the middle above the background, and a black background just made it feel too flat.

Thank you! It really is quite amazing how a little Xaos tweaking can change the appearance of the entire fractal, and make it possible to give such a subdued "backdrop" with a vivid fractal design in the forefront.

I love it because it's unique. It reminds of a photograph of some 19th century navigational device sitting on top of it's own blueprint. For my money, this is the one to enter. But, that's just my taste.

Yea, i was thinking it looked like some kind of compass-type device as well, but my it reminded my brother of clockwerk, and that got me thinking of a pendulum in a Grandfather clock, and that sparked the idea of the poem As for the contest, i have decided to go with this one, as it is just so much more unique than any other of this style that i have ever seen. Thanks for your input!

Thanks! all the different parts(the background, the circles, etc) all just popped out at me while messing with the base flame, and i was able to combine them quite nicely, in my opinion.
