Description Ok, finished her up with shading and all. Check out the lineart [link] if you want to colour her (see journal entry for possible contest!). I must say that I'm exceptionally happy with how the hands and that jumble of fingers turned out. And now to reiterate her story...

-------

Bronach's story

A young and minor demon, Bronach didn't even want to be on the mortal realm. She was summoned by a powerful warlock and then trapped to serve him. This arrangement has worked out ok for her, even though she finds the mortal realm too cold for her liking. The work he requires her to do isn't too hard and there is no heavy lifting involved. However, he seems to be systematically killing peasants and that bothers her for some reason.

She is rescued from the warlock by Adela([link] ), Evan([link] ) and Sindri(more info on him later; for now, he is a wizard with really bad aim) when they are hired by a small town that they are passing through that objects to their people being used in ritual sacrifice. She is freed by Sindri (accidentally), and spared by Adela, against Evan's wishes.

She is now unsure what to do with her life. She must be banished to go home, but only a very powerful wizard can do that and although she finds Sindri amusing she has no intention of trusting to do the spell properly. Bronach and Evan do not get along very well and if it were not for that strange sword of his she would kill him. Adela is a bit of a mystery to her, but she feels strangely protective of her. (Unknown to Bronach, this is called 'gratitude'.) She chooses to travel with the group, at least as far as the city of Rych-Damon which is their final destination.

She stands roughly as tall as a human, if not a little taller. Her skin has a red tint, looking like it could be a sunburn and her hair is gleaming blonde. Her eyes change colour from yellow when she's happy to pink when she's upset and red when she's angry. She has large, black, leathery wings, and her nails extend to serve as claws(pictured). Her teeth also extend and sharpen to fine points, making it quite possible to rip out a man's throat. She wears a long flowing kimono-type garment, underneath a heavy cloak that she uses to hide her wings. This gives her a very broad-shouldered appearance.

Although she looks vaguely normal, most people find it uncomfortable to be around her. They can sense that she's not normal. This makes it hard for her to interact with humans and eventually makes her feel a bitterness towards humanity that could prove to make life difficult for Adela et al. in the end.

Edit: Loaded a more true to colour scan. My scanner lightens everything initally. Also, yes it is grainy in comparison to my other character sketches, but this is a heavier paper.

i really like the hair in this one... and when ever i draw(very seldomly and very badly) hair is one of the hardest things for me to do...

Thanks for the fav!

I find with hair it helps to draw it in sections of light and dark rather than by strand.

She is cute! She reminds me sort of of Cameron Diaz. I like her expression, and the shading looks wonderful

Pretty impressive job; the face and hands were both well-done in shape. You need to work on deepening your shades to provide more contrast; the hands would look even better if they were more distinguishable.

Well, that would be the scanner and the quality of the paper I used. On my other pieces I was using a smoother paper, this is a grainy quality. Also, I didn't mess with deepening the shadow and such. If you don't believe me, I'll work on getting one more true to life, but I should hope you of all people know I have more skill than to do something that has no shadow definition.

Sorry if that sounds bitchy, but I found my dear Adela ripped onto another site. It was an RPG that I sometimes frequent, and someone there had stolen her!!!! GRRRRR!!! So from now on, I may not put the best of quality images online.

Oh, also, to comment on the shadows, I used pencils in range from 2H to 6B.

I think you did a very good job on this one Amanda. I really like how the hands came out, and the hair. Pretty hair! Funky clothing designs.

Those hands were crazy to draw, even with the reference. I choose to be damn proud of those hands!

Thanks!
