Description
While Arezzo was completing Homer’s trials, Bahamut noticed the unnatural decay in Arezzo’s forest. Jacque was sent to fix it and discovered an enchanted indestructible crystal buried deep underground. The energy inside the crystal was similar to that of Mulder’s.
After his defeat, Mulder had been sentenced to an older version of hell. The new gatekeeper of this hell was Fanta: a shapeshifting demoness. Jacque was very much wary of having to ask her for permission to pass.
Over a thousand years ago, Jacque was preparing for a test to become a fully certified (back-up) demigod. Seeing mortals that he personally grew attached to die in the crossfire of war instilled him with a special determination. Thus, along with the all the amenities of a full deity, he would have been granted the power of reckoning. With this power, his antlers would grow with each drop of blood spilled by mortal conflict on earth. If his antlers grew a certain size before he could shed them, he would awaken his wrath form and settle the conflict.
His solitary studies at the distant reaches of the universe were often interrupted by Fanta’s pranks. Unbeknownst to Jacque, Fanta had escaped from hell. While Fanta was very careful not to draw attention to herself, she could not resist messing with the somewhat timid immature jackalope. In turn, Jacque was uncertain as to whether this was a test of patience/will and did not tell anyone out of fear of failing. Given Jacque already possessed great durability, Fanta’s escalating antics did not even hurt that much (albeit they sometimes made him scream in terror).
However, the distractions from his studies cost him the (written) exam. No excuses were entertained. He immediately demanded Fanta to explain herself. Caught off-guard by his sudden assertiveness, she involuntarily confessed that she teased him because she liked him. The rage in his tender innocent heart was instantly replaced by embarrassment and confusion. After letting the shock of this cliché set in, he looked into her eyes and saw that she was being sincere. He forgave her and suggested that they just start over at trying to be friends.
Before Jacque knew it, he was romantically involved with Fanta. She eventually suggested that they run away from it all and go to a desolate uninhabited realm. He still knew very little about her. However, the hurt from his rejection by the gods left him more inclined to follow her suggestion.
On the night before they planned to leave, he took a stroll alone in space. He saw a planet that resembled earth being fired upon from spaceships. With a heavy heart, he returned to the Heavenly Realm and asked to retake the test, this time requesting the title of “Healer”. His request was accepted, and he was scheduled to begin training from step one (many of his powers being taken away).
Jacque returned to tell Fanta. She went into a crazed frenzy and thrashed him violently, managing to draw blood. The battered jackalope struggled back to his feet, apologized, and proceeded to walk away. It was then that Fanta revealed that she was a demon and that him accepting the role of demigod would force them to be enemies. Jacque froze for a moment, but his resolve would not break. He left, though first promising that he would not seek her out or tell anyone about her.
The next day, Jacque began his training, only to be interrupted by an all-hands alert in Heaven. Fanta was summoning unnatural disasters on earth. Kitsune took Jacque along to deal with any injuries. After a fierce battle, Kitsune defeated Fanta. Miraculously, no one was hurt by her cataclysm or the fight. Jacque only looked at Fanta in silence as Kitsune took her away, never admitting that he knew her.
Fanta was returned to the hell from whence she came. During her resumed damnation, she had become uncharacteristically quiet and distant. She even stopped dozens of riots and uprisings, not wanting her peace and solitude disrupted. Noticing this, Cerberus promoted her as the gatekeeper.
