Description Just a quickie. I used Cinema 4D (which I've only had since last Thursday, go easy on me ) and Photoshop 7.0. Thanks to some random brush maker, although I did some of it myself. Just mainly working on the brushing before I make my own, though...

I did use a material, but I'll try what you said although I don't think I like the blurry brushing idea...

k..

tone down ur highlight color on ur color balance, and try to blend it into your midtones more, and oppose the shadows more...
gaussian blur ALL your brushing around 4 px, then edt-> fade gaussian blur to around.. 25%...

as for the render, try playing around with the lighting a little, and add a material to it..
