Description Zoid model I made quite a while ago. I went back and re-did the materials and lighting so that it looks a little better. I also re-did some pieces that needed fixing.

Wow! there's a nice amount of details in there. So good that at first I thought it was a model kit. You got amazing skills, kudos to you!

I am in complete awe of this. You've done a beautiful job with the materials, I mean really beautiful job! I've been looking at this for awhile. I can kinda sorta think of how I would approach many of the parts, it's just that there are so many little details. Even considering the pieces that you likely duplicated, there is still a lot here. It looks really cool and I am deeply humbled.

Haha, yeah there are a ton of little parts in there, but once you break it down, it's not that bad. If you want, here's a look at my day-by-day making of (from a year ago). [link]

The materials were fun to play with. I'm glad I came back and fixed up this old model

It looks a lot better with the metallic materials than it did with plastic. It's even more impressive that you modeled it without reference and managed to get everything to fit together so nicely. There are a lot of details in the tug boat I'm working on, but few of them have to interact with anything else. The thing I really love about modeling is thinking about what techniques can be used to solve a particular problem. If you ever felt like showing it, I would love to see your wire frame on this one.

Having some challenges here with my first real attempt at soft body modeling. I'm feeling like my cat is going to be epic fail lol

I had reference, but it was low-rez, terrible reference. I had to guess in most parts.

I talked to a professor of mine and he suggested I work with this a little more fora nice portfolio piece. I'm probably going to go back in and optimize it, texture it, rig, and animate it. Once I get the final version up, I'd be more than happy to show a turnaround of it in Shaded+Wire Frame. If I showed you just the Wire Frame I doub't you'd see much but blue. It has a lot of small parts on it.

Wire frame shaded is what I meant to say I am not at all familiar with the original so I can't really find any flaws at all in this image. Like the one guy said he thought the front legs were off and I'm like staring at it, look fine to me. I do have more of an appreciation now, the kind of work and talent that goes into something like this than I did a few months ago. I do think that it is portfolio worthy.

Oh definitely. After I fix it up I'm totally putting it in my portfolio. I need to put proper materials on it(put dirt and insignias and scratches and all that jazz) on it, rig it, and animate it, and I'll totally put it in my portfolio. Was thinking about 3d-printing it too. We have a 3D printer at this school.

Awesome model, but his front legs seem really slender. Not that I'm undermining your work, but wow, just wow. This is amazing.

Thank you
You're right, the legs are too slender. I'm done messing with this model, but I'll keep it in mind for future ones.
