Description From 1996, scanned from a xerox I recently located. A friend of mine owns the original, I will have to ask for a scan someday. Carolyn, my wife, provided so much assistance on this piece she is essentially an equal collaborator here. Β©Palladium Books from the book "Dragons And Gods"

Wow. That is some crazy ink work. Looks like it would've been great fun to work on, in that insanely tedious sort of way only an artist can enjoy.

Thank you! I never mind this sort of detailed drawing... It's supertight close up rendering like you do I can't seem to gear up for anymore

Outstanding Mike!
Do I note a little BWS creeping in there?

Thanks so much,Nik, good eye! In fact, this was from the first body of work I did after my short time in the BWS studio!

That's cool Mike, never knew you did a stint at the BWS Studio! I'm jealous!

Ah, well, "Stint" would be making more of it then it was, I had a chance to watch him work, see classic art and works in progress and talk with him at length- but I never did anything professional with Barry, I tried out couldn't give him what he was looking for, at the time...

Outstanding! So much detail it's mindblowing. I'm not sure if it's just me but the style - especially on horse and rider - reminds me of daVinci. As I study this I can't help but think this is more like "Plant Detrimental".

Dubisch In reply to SpaceCowboy5000 [2011-07-16 17:04:53 +0000 UTC]

LOL good point! Thanks, I was unabashedly pursuing a neo-classical style, and my DaVinci book was very possibly my primary reference on the horse....

Gorgeous, Mike! I'd love to be able to really study a large image of this intricate piece. Immediately drawn to the wide-mouthed "profile" on the right!

Thank you! I think I allowed the full size download, check on the right of the pic. The large view will reveal it's a scan from a beat-up photocopy, but should show rich detail.

Checked out the enlarged image, Mike. Wowwww! Do you happen to recall the dimensions of the original? At what size did you originally execute this beauty?

Dubisch In reply to caesar120 [2011-07-18 16:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks again my friend Not entirely sure, not huge- but I'd guess about 12"x 24"

This reminds me of an old print of one of the masters. Excellent work. What medium is it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dubisch In reply to PraiseMoyer [2011-07-16 17:10:03 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! This is pen and ink and black colored pencil on coquille board, a paper with an artificial texture pressed into it.
