I'm surprised they didn't try and Kill off Iggy by saying he and his family moved to Siberia or that he got an illness or accident!

I know this is old, but I agree so much. when I first saw the episode when I was a kid, I almost cried for Arnold. And when Iggy wouldn't forgive him, it just made him look like a complete douche. I wish the truth had been revealed about it really being Stinky and Sid, but that never happened.

Still, I guess Arnold is better off not being friends with a jerk like Iggy.

Weird. I am only just hearing about this episode being so hated. I watched it, and it didn't seem to jump out at me as being any worse than some other things in the show.

1. Like Arnold's grandpa wanting to be friends with the rich guy, and get a "huge sack of money."
2. Or the lost money episode where the kids think Arnold stole the money, and the rope him up in the playground.
3. When he wants to stay home, because it's the anniversary of his parents' disappearance, all the kids call him a loser. They didn't know. But Helga was ease-dropping and heard Arnold's reason, and about his parents, and she still walks away and blows a raspberry at him.
4. And Helga's so-called "love" for Arnold I can't take seriously, since she's unhealthily obsessed with him, and despite claiming to love him was very cruel and selfish regarding him on occasion.
5. Curly blackmailing Rhonda to be his girlfriend after fixing her mother's coat, then forcing a kiss on her in front of everyone.Β
6. And lets not forget what the girls do to Lila in her first episode, and it took them finding out she was poor to feel badly. But Lila forgave them after apologizing, despite dumping garbage on her in front of the cafeteria.. Iggy apologized as well.Β
7. Then there's Sid and Stinky's mocking Big Patty.
8. There's how the entire class acted when Mr. Simmons became their teacher, to the point he has a nervous breakdown and they enjoy it.Β

So I love the show. But the kids were far from great people. Even growing up, I thought all of Arnold's "friends", except Gerald, were jerks. So this didn't really jump out at me too much.Β

You know how they could've made this episode decent is they did the ending like this.

Iggy finds out and rather just sitting his ass on his chair yelling at Arnold not to got outside, he runs as quickly as possible and manages to get Arnold to not go outside before even a camera sees him, Iggy then explains everything finding out it wasn't Arnold that blabbed everything out, despite this, Arnold is still a little mad at Iggy for attempting this in the first place and then a few days later, Arnold eventually gets over it and forgives Iggy with everything going back to normal.

That, that would've been a better ending, but NOPE for some reason the writers thought Arnold getting unfairly humilated would've made a great ending, seriously? What made them think that.

Heck, did you know that this episode was so bad that even the creator Craig hated it and forced the writers to publicly apologize to everyone for the episode, due to this, it rarely ever aired ever again.

I know this may be something you don't want to hear, but I do think Iggy was pretty justified at getting angry at Arnold. While it was Sid and Stinky's fault that everyone got to know Iggy's secret, Arnold was partially at fault. The only action from Iggy that wasn't justified is when he forced Arnold to wear bunny pajamas in front of the town and be videotaped for it.

I do see your point, don't worry. I guess I just think Arnold got too much in this episode - Stinky and Sid should have received some of the cruelty Arnold received.... and Iggy should have forgotten about it MUCH earlier than he did, in my opinion.

Not to mention he cut Iggy out completely. Oh, and from what I hear, Craig FORCED those guys to apologize. It's actually amazing when the show's creator HIMSELF takes action when a bad episode is made, something other people need to be aware of Seth MacFarlane

Oh god...I remember when I watched a rerun of this episode on Nicktoons Network in 04 or 05.

Even when I was nine, I thought this episode was cruel. If I can remember correctly, didn't the episode treat it like Arnold DESERVED what he got?

Also, like you said, Arnold didn't tell them that Iggy wore bunny pajamas. Stinky and Sid guessed it when Arnold refused to tell them about Iggy's secret.

I remember this mean spirited episode where stupid Iggy refuses to hear Arnold out or get over it after a year, and thinks humiliating him on television will make it all better; what a prude. He needs to be pushed off the ground hard where it hurts, or worse. If Iggy won't forgive him,Β maybe Arnold should have just quit and go back to his usual lifestyle. No one even stands up for Arnold, how selfish and cowardly can you get? I wish something terrible happened to Iggy in the end.

You seem to think that what Iggy did to Arnold was completely justified at the end where everyone acts so cruel, even his own grandpa. Even if Arnold made a mistake letting it out, his so-called friends were no different when they betrayed Arnold's trust and realized what they had caused, but chose to take his picture at the end anyways IDIOT!! If my words bother you so much about me wanting someone to teach such a bad character like Iggy a lesson, then maybe you should keep your trap shut. Who the hell are you to judge me on my opinion?

Good question. No seriously, ARNOLD isn't the one who spills the beans about Iggy's secret - it's Stinky and Sid - making it even WORSE.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

slapstick70 In reply to Duckyworth [2014-08-18 02:42:04 +0000 UTC]

It didn't matter if Arnold didn't fully tell Stinky and Sid. The only reason these two were able to figure it out was because of Arnold. Instead of saying that something funny happened at home, which they would buy because of the colorful characters there, he continued to drop hint after hint that lead to their guess. So it is Arnold's fault that it got out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Duckyworth In reply to slapstick70 [2014-08-18 21:18:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but it was due to peer pressure, if I remember correctly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

slapstick70 In reply to Duckyworth [2014-08-19 07:36:21 +0000 UTC]

And that's an excuse? We're taught at a very young age not to fall for such manipulative tactics. Even still, it really wasn't peer pressured. Arnold wasn't pressured to do anything. He got asked a bunch of questions but that's not really pressure. If he had stead fast they would have dropped it. Heck, it seemed like they were going to drop it after they made their guess about the bunny outfit. Or he could have lied. Said something like "me and Iggy were watching a comedy movie that made me laugh," or "we watched a stand up comedian that's really funny," or " Something funny happened back at my house." Any one of these could have worked.

No matter how you slice it Arnold is at fault. Iggy's anger is justified. Not the end though. That's where I will agree. His punishment was too harsh. However, I understand why he wanted it. He wants Arnold to feel the same shame and humiliation that he felt. A form of proper retribution. Like I said I don't agree with what he chose, but I can understand the decision.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

MissMusic93 In reply to slapstick70 [2015-01-19 23:30:35 +0000 UTC]

While I can see why Iggy wanted revenge on Arnold, I think the retribution was disproportionate.

Duckyworth In reply to slapstick70 [2014-08-19 19:22:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but Stinky and Sid still lied that Arnold told them about it - Arnold clearly didn't....
