Following my watching of Raya and the Last Dragon last weekend, and with it being one of my new all time favourite Disney films, I felt I needed to draw some fanart of the characters.

Seen as Sisu is my favourite character in the film, I felt I had to draw her first, and with her reminding me a little bit of Genie from Aladdin (both being powerful mystical creatures who are my favourite characters in their respective films ), I can see the two being friends, so I drew the two together - and fun fact, this is the first time I've EVER drawn Genie! Why did it take me so long?

I saw a few people claiming that Sisu is a flat out RIPOFF of the Aladdin Genie, but I personally disagree.

Despite the two of them both having PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS , having brilliant performances from the late Robin Williams and Awkwafina and being tagalong friends of the main character, Sisu is allowed to be more outgoing as she can become a human while Genie is tethered to his lamp prison which is forcing him to grant wishes when he wants to be free, Genie starts off with unlimited magic but has limits to what he can do due to granting wishes while Sisu starts off weak and is gaining her powers back, and while both of them are generally friendly and fun individuals, Sisu seems to be rather more ferocious in her film when she cuts loose with her powers and Genie seems to be a bit calmer than her generally, in my opinion (due to his rule of not being able to kill anyone - while Sisu avoids the threat of force she does so when absolutely necessary and can be a rather foreboding presence). But when it comes to the anachronistic jokes they pull, seen as both creatures are likely seen as being clairvoyants with vast knowledge to my understanding of mythology, it would make sense for them to make jokes about things from the future to me - like when Genie can make numerous things from the future and when Sisu mentions 'group projects' to Raya. And there are other differences I could see in their films, but that would go into major spoilers, so I'll stop there.

I had a lot of fun drawing both of them here, as well as the background patterns.
