Wow... it's been quite a long time since I uploaded my next page for my Ginga Nagareboshi Gin comic - I've been lacking motivation to continue this comic, but here's the next page at last.

So, this is the part where Tsuikyu the Finnish Spitz is introduced. A childhood friend of Nazo's who joined the Outcast Corps with him, Tsuikyu is one of the best lookouts in the Outcast Corps, but he can be quite an excitable chap - and yes, he has an Irish accent.

I was trying to think of some legendary dog that Tsuikyu could be obsessed with looking for in the clouds for a good luck omen (unlike Nazo who is a more scientific individual, Tsuikyu is more a superstitious individual who is often looking for supernatural phenomena), and the dog that came to mind is Shiro, the father of Riki from the Ginga Nagareboshi Gin anime. If Riki is such a well known and revered dog in the GNG universe, I thought that it would be fitting if Shiro was a renowned dog as well.

I enjoyed drawing the panels where Nazo is sniffing out the pollen on Tsuikyu and analysing it. I was thinking that he could carry out Sherlock Holmes style deductions on the pollen that Tsuikyu had on him, maybe gained when he brushed against a beech tree or a bush when he was surveying the area. Before you ask, I do know that a normal dog may not know specific names for trees and the like, but in the GNG anime and the GDW anime for that matter, some of the dogs do know names of things like plantlife, so I was thinking that it could be possible for Nazo to know the name of a type of tree and berry. Also, when it comes to the colour of the pollen not being brown at all (I know it may be a bit icky if Nazo is saying he tasted a stool sample, but... come on, if it's perfectly normal for wild animals to have to eat some of their waste to get the nutrients, I can imagine that this would be okay in this world), I was just thinking that it was a very fine concentration present in the pollen. Nevertheless, I had fun drawing Tsuikyu's reaction to it.

I know the gears thing may be a bit weird in the panel where Nazo is thinking, but I just like using the gears to be a symbol of a character thinking - in the similar way a light bulb is often used to indicate getting an idea.

Now onto another thing involving the things these dogs know - I remember that in the anime, some of the dogs knew names of landmarks and places, so I was thinking that it could have been from humans that they learned these place names. From this, I was thinking that some of the dogs may have picked up Japanese writing from their life when they had owners - but seen as Nazo and Tsuikyu had British owners originally, I was thinking they wouldn't have been as well versed in Japanese as the other dogs. (Okay, I know that this may be me trying to pull out some explanations out of my butt to explain thing after thing, and I'm sorry if this is beginning to get a bit confusing - but it's been a while since I drew this comic and got the ideas for it, and as a result, some of my ideas may have got a bit confused along the way. If there are one or two ideas that just don't fit with the GNG universe, I apologise - my life has been a bit busy in the past few months, so as a result, trying to think about the comic ideas as well may have taken a bit of a quality drop as a result. )

Eiyu and Hori have been living with a samurai his whole life, which may have given him a better exposure to Japanese writing which is why he can recognise the message on the tree - which, judging by the shaky writing, it could very likely have been written by Ketsueki-yama.... and Eiyu and Hori have the feeling that it's really him. Which also means that the bear himself has become literate....

Eiyu accepts the challenge that Ketsueki-yama has left for him - getting his fighting spirit back. And it looks like Yuki is equally excited. I was trying to draw a more cartoonish expression for Yuki here getting really excited - I heard that when dogs get excited that they sometimes foam at the mouth - and I was trying to emulate THIS Danganronpa character expression here - which is one where the character is getting overly stressed.

Kagaharu, meanwhile, is rather interested in Nazo's deductions, but Katame, wishing justice against the bear who killed Spencer advises Eiyu that they shouldn't pass up the chance to fight Ketsueki-yama, as to deny him would not be a good idea.

So, everyone departs to do battle with Ketsueki-yama (I know it's only been a few parts since the last fight ENDED, but hell, there's a lot of fighting in the anime, so....) - after another Tsuikyu moment.

So.......I know that I may have rushed this part to try and get it finished, and there may be one or two dialogue choices that may not make sense in the canon, but please feel free to leave any comments if you have any constructive critiques as to how I've written this. Also, when it comes to the art style, I know that mine may be a bit more cartoony than GNG, but I hope that my art style isn't too bad....

Stay tuned for part 15, which hopefully won't take too long to draw.

Nazo has both a keen nose AND a keen tongue. XD But most of all, a keen MIND! Also Yuki drooling in excitement made me laugh. Good work!

Tsuikyu was pretty cute. So was Yuki especially. The scene where you drew her all excited reminds me of that foaming mouth guy from Avatar: the Last Airbender. I'm also glad you mentioned Shiro, he's pretty underrated.

Ooh, now I'm excited to see them fight Ketsueki-Yama. Suspense building... I love how you drew the last panel in the style of all the epic "dog armies running into battle" scenes that were everywhere in the GNG anime.

Aww, thank you. I was feeling a bit stressed out this week, but I'm happy that you like it.

Ah, yes - that guy from Last Airbender also comes to mind with Yuki's excited expression - I had quite a bit of fun drawing Yuki and Tsuikyu. Here's a fun bit of trivia - despite the fact that he has an Irish accent (something I lack), Tsuikyu may end up having some of my mannerisms in him.

I have something very interesting planned for the fight - and yes, those scenes were everywhere in the anime, but god damn it, they always kept awesome.
