Description After drawing Alihariah the Lopunny, the forefather of the House of Lago, Sassy the Lopunny's family clan, in my recent page of The Mega Frontier, I really liked how the design came out, so I decided to draw him out in full. By the way, YES, his name is a Watership Down reference, as it sounds a bit like Elihirah, the Prince of Rabbits (I think I spelt it right).

I based his design partially off Usagi Yojimbo, a character who I learned recently is in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - but I had seen a copy of the manga featuring him for sale, and I loved the idea of a samurai rabbit. The tuft of fur on his head being a brighter shade is partially inspired by Bigwig from Watership Down (and Sassy's father is named Bigwig ), I imagine that when in combat, he'd want to keep his ears from getting in the way, so he's tied them up, and the scar on his face was inspired by Ruroni Kenshin - I haven't watched Ruroni Kenshin, but I thought the scar looked cool.

I'll be delving more into his character as The Mega Frontier progresses, and tying it into the conflict between Sassy and Tyson on their differing thoughts on Mega Evolutions. Basically, he founded Sassy's family's ideaology that despite looking meek and weak, their kind is just as strong and capable as anyone else, and they won't hold back to prove themselves - which runs contrary to the Steel Soldiers, Tyson's family clan, which believes in fair play and allowing their opponents a level playing field by not exploiting type advantages. The destinies and past of the two houses are intertwined.
I can imagine Alihariah speaking in a lot of wise sayings and proverbs (kind of like a rabbit version of General Iroh from Avatar the Last Airbender ).

As a final note, I know I have a LOT of conflicts and characters lined up for this comic, but as someone who gets a strange kind of enjoyment with creating characters, I get these weird urges to make more and expand on the stories and origins of my main cast - I must have at least 100+ Pokémon characters now, with nearly 50 of them in the main cast.

Let's see - as for plot points and conflicts in The Mega Frontier lined up so far, we have... my trainersona learning about Mega Evolution, Jack Prescott and his Mega Steelix Tecton being tough new competition, Sassy wishing to use Mega Evolution to unlock her full potential, Bulb wanting to be on the front lines with the team like she used to, Dynamique going fangirl for Tecton, Tyson having a fear of Mega Evolution, Sassy and Tyson having a possible conflict due to this, Asumo wishing to show Jack Prescott what's what... and many others that will come up, making references to other characters and past stories. There's also the manner of Phantomile the Darkrai, who I'm planning to integrate into the story somehow..... But I'll try to make this work, as I feel that these story threads will all help me develop my characters.

perhaps I have an idea for you to use in this Conflict for Tyson.

Oh? What idea is that?

it's a concept that deals with close friends. when two close friends are pitted against, it is considered very disrespectful to hold back. real friends push the limits of each other so both may grow from it. for a student and teacher, this is reasonable, but for lovers, friends and even rivals. holding back is a sign you feel the other is too weak, thus it is an Insult.

Hmm - you make a good point - I showed in that House of Lago comic that Tyson, due to his upbringing, hesitated, but with Sassy's support he gave it his all in the fight. He doesn't intend any disrespect, it's just due to his family believing in a fair chance for everyone by not taking advantage of any unfair weaknesses - it's both a strength AND a flaw of his.

indeed, but if learned that not taking advantage or exploiting one's weakness. it can not grow. and someone else will with a grave result, like the buster ghosts are other foes intent on harming them.

I'll add this into the comic - maybe he receives praise for trying to give everyone a chance but someone else calls him out for endangering himself and for not truly testing his opponent?

that is an option. but I do have a better way to cement the message. and it deals with that grave outcome I mentioned before

well, depends. I pictured one of your pokemon who is close to Tyson be badly hurt do to a lack of training in one aspect, their type weakness.

Hmm - well, I think that could be a good idea to make him think more about his beliefs, but with so many other trainers on the team that could balance that out, I wouldn't chalk that down entirely to being his fault.

indeed so, but it would be a different story if it were Sassy

I am planning to go into more detail why Tyson holds back in fights when he can and can get a bit too generous to the point where an opponent could take advantage of his generosity - something in his backstory explains why.
