Description By the look of this you wouldn't think it would take that long, but it did. In fact it took forever to do. I don't know what I did wrong, but nothing went right on this one. I think when I do PPG people I'll stick with real ink and then scan rather than trying to ink in PS. It wouldn't let me color the image with paintbucket after I digitally inked. Which means I did everything by brush strokes. Maybe my PS is a bit screwy? I donno. Well, I hope you like Dragomir ~phoenixsamurai Because... Well, he may not look like much, but he's darn cute and all the time spent on him was rediculous.

That's the most awesomest thing ever!!
But now I feel bad that it was so hard to do... in exchange, tell me what you want me to draw for you!

^__^;;

Don't feel bad, it's not anyones fault for the time it took to complete this picture. I thought I'd make the lines "perfect" through PS, but I now know not to try and do that. It's just a learning experience, and to never do something silly like this again! Plus, I'm sort of sad the lines aren't as thick as they could be. Old fashioned drawings with real ink and paper, here I come!

I drew this as a gift to you, so I don't really need a drawing, plus you're very busy with your wonderful comic. Though I suppose if you have a spare moment or to and/or have the urge you could draw one of my Small Town Creature characters. Like Seffy, Veeda, or Frezno. I really am gladthat you like your Dragomir character in the PPG format.

OK! Well, thanks! ^___^
And yeah, my stint in PS "drawing" didn't last long. I don't know how some people do it. So I rely on blue pencil, black pen, and Sharpie.

Ah yes, the joys of Photoshop. I can’t tell you the number of times I did something and when β€œWait, that’s not how it’s supposed to work!”

You did a great job of taking the character concept and recreating it with that particular PPG style. You figured out what elements you needed to copy over and ran with it. There are a lot of nice subtle touches here in this image. The hair isn’t totally black so you can still make it out over the black pupil. The logo things on the scarf, the ear ring, the yellow eyes, the red wing-a-lingies. It all came together very nicely.

My only comment is that I found the scarf that’s touching the hand to be a bit distracting and his Left ear (character’s left) that took me a bit to realize it was an ear. Probably just me

Thanks for sharing! Love the style!

Jon

Yeah, the ears were sort of a last thought addition. I was just going to use the earring to denote the ear, but then I realized Dragomir had pointed ears, and I that I probably should add them to add to the "in characterness". So I did. Though maybe I could have added a bit more detail to them to make it more obvious? The hand... I don't know what to say about that. I figure he's running at top speed using the typical track runner motions, and he's not really touching the scarf, it's sort of lagging behind him.

To be honest I'm not sure how I would change either. If they were an afterthought that might explain why I think one looks a little odd... I imagine if you had it in your planning it would look just fine

Perhaps the scarf could have been placed just a little clooser to the back arm and not so close to the front. Or perhaps partly wrapped around an arm? Just guessing here.

I do like the piece

Hmm, partially wrapping the scarf around the arm probably would have been a good idea. Wish I had thought of it.

It's easier to make suggestions about a piece once it's complete. It's harder to think about it when you are actualy crafting it. I find that a lot of times when I'm doing post production work on my images and I go "Why did I do that!??" I figure with practice I will have those moments less frequently.

Oh so very true. Though, even with practice, it seems I still have those moments quite frequently.

Practice, Practice, Practice.

And claim you did it on purpose

i cannot believe how much expression the little face has once you enlarge it *A* your attention to detail is v. spiffy indeed and i really like the color coordination, a little red here a little red there, it's very unified overall

The character had those colors to begin with. So they definately aren't mine. But I'm glad that you thought I put a lot of detail into him for the larger version. I spent enough time on coloring to be completely flusterpated for a year.

Let's hope so. I seriously was about to be something down with a massive stick though. It doesn't look like it took all that long, but try... 6-7 hours of work because I had to color using the brush instead of "zoning" using the wand and the paintbucket. The wand wouldn't pick up everything, so I went by the brush... I don't recommend it.

Well, if you do the colours on a new multiply layer, it's not hard. just erase what goes out of the lines.

Nono... you don't understand. I *did* have another layer for colors... And it STILL took that long. ~.~; Maybe I should have made it a multiply layer though...
