Description
This is a composite image using a real photo background and aircraft from the flight simulator IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles. It depicts 3 of the planes of JV 44 on a flight during late World War II.Jagdverband 44 (JV 44) was a special fighter squadron of top German fighter ace pilots in the Luftwaffe during the last months of World War II. The main aircraft used by the unit was the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. They were known by various nicknames, including "Der Galland Zirkus" (The Galland Circus).

The future of warfare. Hard to believe that in 1865 we were fighting with muskets and eighty years later we have jet fighters. The in which wad are has advanced is unreal.

There's only 1 type of Me-262 in the flight sim so yeah they are all the exact same plane, just different paint schemes.

Thanks, glad you like it. Hope you enjoy the console version of IL-2, I've been considering getting it for my Xbox 360 as I don't really have the inclination to get all my joystick etc out, but it would be nice to fly again sometimes.
Then again I'm afraid of what they did to this very realistic simulator by porting it to console...

They are very close together but the good pilots could easily pull it off. Formation flying is one of the first things they taught.
And yes, they were the best of the Luftwaffe so crashes would have been quite the rarity.

How did you get the aircraft to look so clear and so smooth? They almost look shiny!
(And btw, in the cockpits you can still see the "blue" sky backround from within the game.) But all together VERY good job! Its hard to impress me with IL-2 game shots.

Actually the blue you see is a slightly darker huge of the clouds behind them, to give the impression of glass not being perfectly clear all the time

Is is just your computer that has good graphics or did you do something to make the aircraft look really nice, smooth and shiny.

The PC at the time wasn't the best but you don't need great specs to run IL-2 well. The smoothnes and shininess of the plane models was all added later in Photoshop as the IL-2 models aren't really all that smooth

The Messerschmits 262... First Jet-Powered Aeroplane ever... Invented in Germany early 1941, first used in army at early 1944, but couldn't change the destiny of the WW2, if it was 1940 when it has first been invented, then now we could be living in a different world...
