i think the bike bicycle could be an ellement to include, not to exclude it as this one,
so you can get a photo portrait with a guy, happy ,  expressive and with the ellement to show a kind of activity or "environment" related to the happiness in life and joy maybe. because I imagine this guy enjoys the bici riding !

:gossip:
Still I'm trying to understand what happens with your sharpenss in the photos,
I see your info is: Lens 55mm I suppose its a Prime Lens, it should be sharp quality,
f/5.6 and ISO 400 and speed at 1600 ...

Bahaha, this is a shot that wasn't really ever supposed to exist. I had my lens zoomed all the way in and I was looking through the viewfinder to change something, as I was in manual focus, and I saw that he pulled this face so I took the shot as fast as I could. I think it's just out of focus to be honest.

use the automatic focus,
iF you have Nikkor lens, as G series, use the auto,
its worth!
one friend told me: you can take advantage of the features and setting of your camera, dont waste them!
and . . sincerely I have just a few photos with a good and nice sharpness that I admire thanks to my 50 mm,
check my flickr ,
and thank you again
