Description At long last, school is over for another semester and I'm out. I should be more elated by this news but I don't think it's quite sunk in yet... Just feeling very unmotivated to do anything lately besides sit and stare, occasionally play the odd game. Point is, I'm here to tell you all I'm back in some capacity for the winter season. I cut myself off from DA during finals week so that's why I've been more quiet than usual the last two weeks. I have so many things to respond back to in my messages...will have to get on that at some point...

Anyway, brief-ish update on me since last journal, I'm all over the place with RP stuff. Got all my PMD stuff to catch up with, first off. Namely, I want to keep working on and finish that collab story I was doing with and with their team Toxishade and my teams Temporal Travelers and Star Cross Mercury. We had a lot of cool stuff planned, which didn't quite make the deadline for the Cactus Field tasks, but once we get scheduling worked out again, hopefully it will be full-steam ahead again and we'll have a great story for you all to read (already got some really great stuff now...and we just started). Otherwise, got to update apps as usual and figure out new team members for all my Unity teams...feels like I'm always running behind and struggling to catch up with that stuff. Got some updates to do with my PMDA teams too...and I've got another team app on the back burner I've been wanting to post, though I'm considering how sane it is to make yet another team. More pressingly, Generations has begun showing signs of life again which I am very happy about, so I'm going to go and revamp the apps for my teams in that group. Might even consider doing an over-arcing catch up story about what all my teams have been up to since I last posted in that group (which was quite a while ago). Depends on my inspiration and motivation levels I guess. So heads up for that stuff...hopefully

Then there's my other RP latest obsession, Dungeon & Dragons. Remember when I said I would post journals about our exploits in the group I joined? Yeah...well I would have if there actually were any exploits. In a nutshell, my group seems to be going through a rough patch. Half of the times when we're supposed to meet, only about half of the group or less shows up which means the DM can't progress with the story much since the rest of the group will miss something important...which means we either do a one and done (a story that only lasts one session, with no connection to the current campaign) or the session is cancelled entirely. Then there's been a string of misfortunes including scheduling conflicts, school getting in the way, and random bad things happening to our DM (putting her out of commission for the night) that make it that much harder to have a session. So...since I last announced to the internet that I'm joining the cult of D&D (beginning of October), we've probably had a grand total of...four productive session up to this point. Not inspiring... However, I am doing my best to remain positive and hyped nonetheless and hope that whatever bad luck and drama is brewing beneath the surface will clear up by the time we start meeting again in January. I enjoy the group of friends I've made through this group and the fun stuff we've done together (like do a bowling night...just because). I just hope some of them will not be so distracted and disorganized with their characters in future sessions...because it's really be trying on my and the DM's patience, completely sucking the life out of our sessions. Two hours minimum a week on Thursday shouldn't be that hard to commit to, right? *sigh* I wonder sometimes if anyone else puts as much effort into this as I do (reading up on my character & race stats and developing a decent back-story for my adventurer)...but at least I know my friend who got me into this (the DM) does so that gives me hope to carry on.

On a somewhat less depressing note as far as D&D is concerned, it did fuel my creative spark for a bit and I ended up drawing a character or two and some monsters which I'm pretty proud about. I hope to post those within the next week or so. Hope you all will like them. I've also been keeping myself busy reading the entire 5th edition Player's Handbook cover to cover (yes, I read around 100 pgs of spells and yes, I have a problem) and now I'm putting together my own player to use once the party finally kills me off as a villain. My friend and I are going to try to sum up this campaign as quickly as we can as it's dragging on with all the problematic sessions we've been having...and we're kind of getting tired of it. It's a pity we can't pull off all the nefarious scheming we worked up, but we feel that the rest of the players just aren't ready for it right now, not with their current attention span. So I'm working on a human monk character with a psuedodragon familiar. Got all her stats and stuff worked out (I rolled pretty well for stats ) and I figured out her general backstory and personality. Just figuring out her appearance now. Then I get to present her to my friend and see what she thinks. Last note, I also kind of randomly joined a campaign on my college campus. It's 3.5 edition which will be different, but I hope for the best. There's just so many stats to keep track of... It's definitely tougher to just pick up and play than 5th edition, and everyone else seems to have a better clue than I do...or just doesn't care at all. Hope that campaign will actually have substance and character building and not just jumping from battle to battle with no building up of the actual characters outside of stats... Can already tell some of the guys in the group are competitive and care a bit too much about number crunching...

Outside of RP stuff, I haven't had time to do much lately, with school taking up the rest of my time the last two weeks. So many final projects... My greatest feat was writing a 10 pg paper (with 7 quoted sources) in roughly a day...plus two full days of research and procrastination. Got a lot of TV to catch up on like Criminal Minds, Arrow, Flash, Sleepy Hollow, and Thunderbirds are GO! And, there's always games to play and catch up on. Theoretically, I should be very busy now that I'm on break or at least have plenty of stuff to enjoy myself with...yet more often than not I'm staring at the walls... Yeah...

So in Chesnaught's shell, that's what's been up with me lately (cause I'm sure you all wanted to know). Most of the important stuff at least...I think. Having trouble keeping a train of thought right now... So...uh...happy holidays and hopefully I'll get some more stuff for you guys on here soon. Thanks you to those who suffered through my rambling...it's been a long last couple of weeks...

Congrats, Dusk! I've still got a week of exams to go. One paper and three actual exams.

Sounds good with the groups! I'm happy that those creative juices are still flowing.

That's quite sad about the D&D. But, life is life. It comes up, what can you do? College is really, really busy...seems like a good character, though. I wish you luck with her! ^^

Thanks Best of luck with your exams and paper.

Yeah, I know life can be life. What're you gonna do, right? College is quite busy at times...though the reasons people were skipping out on sessions didn't always sound like they were school work related (more like they made other plans and didn't think to tell anyone about it). But, positivity! I shall remain optimistic for the swiftly approaching new year and thanks for the encouragement

Oh my goodness, I know the DM problem waaaaaaay too well. Just to put this in context, my current DnD session has a man named Fedora Dorito, who attacks with fedoras and a Katana, and one player who's about to go god tier is Mr. Clean. This isn't to mention some of the stupidity I've encountered in the last two sessions alone, like suction rolls on a vacuum, the entire group trying to convince my penguin merchant that they were the board of directors for his stand, and lighting a fire on an ice shelf, causing them to fall into an abyss. Needless to say, I've been frustrated and confused as a DM as to what I could have possibly done to get them to do this. I suppose it is the nature of a group with a lenient DM, but I wish I had more serious players sometimes...

Cheers to the PMD-G revival! Man, I can't wait until posts start showing up in my feed for that group again~

Nice to hear you're back and at least taking a break from school! Have a wonderful break~

Yep, ever a struggle between keeping it chill and keeping the story moving in some sensible direction. Definite tug of war between being the strict task master to keep everyone on track and being patient and flexible so the whole experience remains fun and not overly grating. I've barely been in this for a few months, and I can already relate to a good deal of what you're saying. All D&D people imagine their perfect group...and I'm just doing what I can to try and help get my friends to that point.

I'm be helping my mom a lot this week so I'm not sure how fast I can get them up since they're all digital art, but I really would like to make "new" apps for all my teams art wise. I'll probably start posting stories after that, if not to try and clear up the jumble mess of my teams' stories then to do an outlaw or two and get some new members finally "officially" introduced that I've been meaning to bring in for a while now.

To you as well

Yea, it's a frustrating balance, but when it does manage to work out on occasion, that's what keeps us coming back. Just the perfect DnD session can keep everyone talking for months to come.

It's all good! Take your time. We have some time before the main mission goes up, so you don't have to worry for a bit.
