2020 has been... utterly terrible, hasn't it?

A deadly virus, numerous protests, and many, many deaths throughout the year. Tragedy after tragedy to shake the world and plunge many of us into shadow.

Personally, I think I tasted depression for the first time in my life during the events of this year, and... oof, it's not fun. Being stuck inside away from friends and the outside world in general was awful. There was nothing to look forward to, nothing to gain inspiration from. I've had to constantly put off get-together days with my irl friends because my family is worried about catching the virus, and I've felt all the more awkward and out of place when said friends talk about everything they're doing together.

However, my online friends have been awesome, and they've helped me keep my sanity through this hellish year <3

Good grief... where has 2020 gone? Is it truly The Year That Never Was due to how warped it's been? I feel like we haven't gone anywhere, but we must have, because of all that's happened?

The virus has come very close to afflicting my family over the course of the year, hence why there's glowing, spined hands reaching for my dragonsona. With some of my elderly neighbors catching Covid and resuming their daily routines without thought that they're spreading it has certainly been a frightening thing. And going to the store to see people with their masks hanging off their noses or chins, or wearing none at all is dumbfounding.

However... 2021 is here. What will it be like? It's a glowing, shimmering beacon of light and a promise that next year can be better than this one.

But...

It's also a mirage, a trick in some way. What if next year is just as terrible? Or... or worse?

I shouldn't think that way lol; we can hope it to be better, and we can help each other to make 2021 much better than 2020~
