It's another one of those "temporary insanity" pictures to stoke the creative fires. It came while watching the old Jay Ward show, and wanting to make a version of Shoeshine that matched the theme song's vigor and pomp.

Aw! I love underdog. I got the box set DVD a couple months ago. takes me back to my childhood. (and also, I actually sorta liked the disney movie)

Thanks for the comment, and I agree on the Disney movie point. I sit here wondering how they manage spend so much to crank so much empty soulless tripe on a regular basis (any teen "star" movie vehicle/song career), and the good stuff is few and far between and low on the list.
Underdog (the cartoon) was cheap, fun and had a lasting nostalgia factor.
