Description Grrr... I dislike this page terribly. But I really want to get the plot moving so I'll have to come back and re-draw this page at some later date.

Frame three: Lily is lying.

Frame five: a shiver has just gone down Skipper's back although he couldn't tell you why.

Frames ten through thirteen merely establish that I really can't draw otters or lemurs.

Tom McGrath and Eric Darnell own the Penguins (and otter and lemurs) of Madagascar. Only Lily is my creation.

Wait, skipper? I thought he was private due to what marlene said.

Private is the Penguin in the bottom frame, but it is because Maurice gave Lily an EVIL idea that Skipper, who is currently minding his own business, has suddenly had a shiver of terror go down his back.

You are very kind. I just rushed this and the next page so I'm feeling like I could have done a better job. Nothing new and different for your resident perfectionist. But thank you.

Well, it helps that I have to commute via bus to and from University, so I spend a lot of time sketching. I hope to get more stuff up soon, but Finals might put those plans on hold. And if I'm not overly positive about my stuff, sorry, I really am something of a perfectionist. Although I will say it is a huge boost to get feedback brom folks. (Me, a DA whore? You betcha!)

Again, thanks. I do all my stuff old school, pen and pencil. Well... I do use screentone, I will admit to that, but otherwise it's all hand-drawn. And inked. -_-; I'm sure I mentioned this once before, but inking can be boring. Part of me would love to learn Adobe Illusttrator, the other part of me doesn't want to rely on electricity all the time for my art. I know I'm the murder of countless trees, but I really do prefer having a hardcopy of my work.

FYI your artwork is very nice. I'd love to see where you go with it over time.

No... I think I followed you on that one. I started my art 'career' by copying other folks work, then gradually moved into creating my own style, although I will admit that it is still very much evolving. And certainly, whenever I discover a new artist or style I play with that a bunch. If it works, I incorperate it into my style. If it doesn't, eh, :: shrugs :: then we never see it again. You know what's funny? My Grandfather was disappointed to learn that I stopped drawing Disney style for a while. I just found that manga style (anime style) worked better for the story I was trying to tell. But I still enjoy Disney style, and found a lot of it works it's way into the POM fancomic.

cool that you know who to do that style and yeah I like manga style too but I still need to learn how to do than more and it's good to look at other artiest work it helps you with your own well for me, not as much with Marlene I try to draw her as a Human and always change how she looks so I'm stuck with her I all ready drew the penguins but I'm trying to fix how they look

Dustfish In reply to MonkeyLucy [2011-03-09 06:00:49 +0000 UTC]

No worries. I filled an entire sketch book of drawings of the penguins before I was happy enough with my art to start on my comic. It's all about practice. I just need to work a LOT more on Marlene and the lemurs.

Eh... okay I'm totally guilty of that. :: hangs head in shame :: it does help to use screen shots to figure out their basic structures, but what helped me most of all is remembering that they are built on the prinicple of circular motion, and if you can figure out how the cirlces that make up their basic body structure work, them you can pretty much have them do anything. I am maybe ...five(?) pages from a major fight scene 'tween Lily and Skipper, and I am already trying to figure out movement on the two of them. In some ways Lily is easier, because she's my OC, but in other ways Skipper is easier because I can always check back against screen shots from the dvds.

Yeah that's true well I try to draw them exactly that's why and they are easy kinda since they all are geometric shapes and thanks
