It’s the 60th Anniversary of The Amazing Spider-Man this summer, his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 , cover dated way back in August of 1962! To celebrate Petey and all the spectacular creators that contributed to one of the most iconic pop culture icons of our lifetime, I’ve created two pieces of art showcasing an absolute multitude of some of the most memorable and not so well remembered members of both Spidey’s Rouges Gallery and his Allies and supporting cast. Here’s the starting point of both pieces….. J Jonah Jameson’s Daily Bugle Building in midtown Manhattan, circa the 1960’s-1970’s. I had the tremendous good fortune to collaborate on this with two of the BEST artists in the business, Jonard Soriano (bg design) & Thomas Yamaoka (bg paint/color)…. I handed off a super rough idea of what I was looking for, which you can see if you scroll though the pics and in a matter of days Jonard came back with what you can see in the 2nd pic…..then Thomas took that and wove his magic on it and in less than a week I had a completed, awesome background just waiting for a wild assortment of characters and creatures to be placed in it. Over the next 90 days I’ll be posting one new character a day, added to the bg, until the whole piece is revealed, 93 characters in all…... of course, kicking it all off, here's character #1, everyones favorite Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man…. Hope ya enjoy the ride!
