Alright? I'd be dead. Poor thing. Bet she doesn't do that anymore. Must have been scary at first.

I have Border collies and they obviously do have an instinct to herd anything that moves. They are a bit smarter than to get trampled though and if they do get hit, they never get hit again. They nip the heels and then bolt to one side so fast, the horse doesn't even know where they are. One of our dogs, Monty, now passed on, used to run between their legs and alsorts, lol. How he managed to not get kicked is beyond me. The horses moved where he wanted them to though. I remember a whole herd galloping straight towards him one time. Knowing he couldn't get out of the way, he turned and just faced them giving them the collie eye. The horses all swerved to one side at the last second. That was a hearty stopping moment.
Our Mist used to nip the horses heels and stalk them a lot when my sister had a horse at the local Livery. She never got trampled or kicked...she was too smart and quick..haha.
Border collies also have a tendancy to not be overly affected if they are kicked. They just get straight back in there and be more careful, lol.

:] thank you. I'm just glad she learned her lesson before our new puppy picked up on it. She's German Shepherd though, so she'll have a little more weight to throw around when she's older, however it's really no match to a 1,000 lb horse.

I wasnt worried, she didnt have a herding problem thats how horses are. Always testing whos the boss, its natural. You shouldnt worry about it, she can test Du Shane all she wants, he will just keep teaching her who the boss really is like he did already. Its a great shot, just dont think it should be called a herding problem since its not a problem its just a horses natural behavior.

Lol ya. Horses arnt stupid enoughe. Well two stallions might get stupid fighting for a mare, lol. Hope she gets some sence knocked into her. I know a few horses who think they are the bosses, but the real leaders put them in their place lol.
