Description
3 months later
Emily was sat on her bed with her legs dangling off the side. She was rather unsure about the whole thing. She'd been in her medical bed for so long, she was unsure on whether or not she could actually walk straight anymore. "Emily?" A voice came from in front of her and she looked up from her feet, seeing Hera was still standing before her, where she had been moments before. "Are you ok?" she added. Emily looked down again, unsure. She then crossed her arms, showing more uncertainty.
"Emily, if you fall. I'll catch you" Sabine said softly, standing beside the bed. Emily looked back up to her twin and nodded slightly. She looked back down to her feet and slowly began to slide off of the bed. When her foot touched the cold floor she jerked back for a moment, gripping the bed hard. "It's alright, Em. It's ok" Sabine soothed and Emily placed her foot back down on the ground, her other foot joining it a few moments later. She looked over to the railings where she'd be learning to walk again. Sabine knew Emily would need help getting over to the railings so she hoisted Emily's healed right arm over her shoulder and assisted Emily to the railings. Once Emily was there, she tightly grabbed the railings and held herself up, Sabine remaining close in case she fell over.
"Right. Now all you need to do is walk to the other side of the railing and turn around before heading back" A Medical droid said simply and Emily looked to Sabine, still unsure about what she was about to do.
"You can do it, Em" Sabine encouraged with a gentle smile. Emily slowly edged forwards and wobbled slightly but remained upright. But as she took her second step, her right leg gave out and she collapsed onto the banister. Sabine was quick to help Emily back up and Emily slowly began to move on again, but this time she was using Sabine as a guide. "You're being very clingly" Sabine quietly commented and Emily looked away for a moment, tightening her grip on Sabine's hand "You've been through a lot haven't you?" She thought to herself.
It took a few days more of getting used to walking again, but Emily was back on her feet. Though there was still one issue that the others had. Emily couldn't talk still, so Sabine had taken it upon herself to teach Emily the native language of Mandalorians, Mando'a. So Sabine had taken Emily back to their room to teach her and to help Emily feel more comfortable in learning her new language. Sabine sat down on the bottom bunk and Emily sat down beside her. "We're going to start off simple. I'll say 'Hello my name is' in Mando'a and I'd like you to try repeat it" Sabine said softly.
Emily nodded and Sabine began. "Su cuy'gar, ner gai cuyir" She said and then gestured for Emily to have a go.
"S-S-S-S-Su" Emily began "S-S-Su c-c-c-c-cu" she continued, still stumbling and stuttering her words.
"It's ok Em. Keep going" Sabine encouraged
"Su cu-u-u-u-cuy g-g-g-g-a-ga-ga-ga-r-gar, n-ner ga-ga-gai c-c-cuy-cuy-cuy-cuyir?" Emily finished, not fully pronouncing everything correctly but Sabine didn't mind.
"Very good Em. Now try to say it again"
"Su cu-cu-cu-cuy ga-ga-ga-ga-gar n-e-ne-ne-ner ga-ga-g-ga-g-a-ga-gai cu-c-cu-cu-cuy-cuy-cuy-ir" Emily repeated. still not quite sure she could do it.
"You're doing fine Em, try again" Sabine continued to encourage her, knowing Emily was still unsure about all this.
Emily looked away for a moment but looked back and began again. "Su cu-cu-cuy ga-gar ne-ne-ner ga-ga-gai cu-cuy-cuyi-cuyir"
"One more time Em. I'm sure you'll get it this time" Sabine said and Emily tried one more time
"Su cu-cuy g-gar ner g-gai cuy-cuyir" Emily finished. She was about to try again when Sabine stopped her.
"Take a break Em. We'll start again in a little while" Sabine said, gently patting her on the shoulder.
They continued for a few hours a short while afterwards, Sabine allowing Emily plenty of time and attempts to copy what she had said in Mando'a. Once they had finished, they headed to grab some food before continuing. Once they had gotten their food, they went to sit down, but Sabine noticed Emily wanted to leave the room and not stay instead "Ni don't gu-qu-quuror bic olar" Emily said quietly, not overly keen on being in the presence of people that weren't the ones closest to her.
"Alright. Let's go back to the room. I've got something to show you anyway" Sabine replied and they headed out of the mess hall
"Me-Me-Meg cuyir t-t-te sur-sur-su-surprise?" Emily asked quietly
"You know I got you your armour? Well I've cleaned it up and painted it up to something you'd like. I also got your blaster working again, it seems it ran out of power so I replaced the charges" Sabine said and that seemed to make Emily smile for a moment before her smile faded away again. "I know I should ask her what's bugging her. But she's probably not in the right mind for those sorts of questions" Sabine thought as they neared their room. Once they were inside, Sabine noticed that Emily had been tensed up the whole time. "Em? Are you alright" Sabine finally asked and Emily turned away, not wanting to talk about it. "Em. Please" Sabine asked again. Emily still didn't respond. "Fine... I might as well show you the armour, maybe trying it on might ease the mood" She continued as she headed over to a small drawer and pulled out Emily's armour set. She then took it over to Emily and laid it out on the bed beside her. "I'll just get your helmet to complete the look" She added as she grabbed the helmet and placed it atop the armour on the bed so Emily could have a good look at it.
"G-G-Gar did a-a-a-an ib-ibic par ni?" Emily asked, seeing her armour had now got a Dark Blue base colour, with orange and Light blue accents. There were yellow bits too, possibly from spray as adorned on the left shoulder pad was a 6. Emily looked up to Sabine, slightly confused.
"Hera and Kanan had discussed it. So they've made you Specter 6. It'll allow you to honour Ezra they said" Sabine replied. Emily picked the shoulder plate up and examined it, running her thumb over it, a few tears falling onto the metal as she felt it. As she went to turn it around and put it back, she noticed a scar and turned her hand over to find a large scar going across her palm. "Doc said you got it when you were out in the snowstorm. We don't think you know either. Your memory was rather fuzzy" Sabine said.
"Ni d-d-don't lin-lin-li-linibar at cuyir reminded" Emily replied as she rubbed the tears out of her eyes and she started to take off the temporary clothes she had been given and she started to put the armour on. It had been the first time in a long time that she'd worn her Mandalorian armour. Sabine turned away so that Emily wouldn't feel uncomfortable about having someone look at her whilst she was changing. Emily did feel glad that Sabine seemingly understood her wants and needs, even without being told what she wanted or needed.
"Nearly ready Em?" Sabine asked as Emily was finishing up.
"sh-sh-shi ab-ab-about" Emily replied as she put on the last pieces "ogir" she said as she turned back and Sabine turned around to see Emily in her newly restored armour.
"Not bad Em. It does look good on you" she complimented and Emily smiled again, a bit more than she had before. Emily then surprised Sabine by hugging her.
"V-V-Vor en-en-entye" Emily thanked her twin quietly.
"It's alright Em. I'm glad you like it" Sabine replied before she exited the hug and gifted Emily one last thing. "Here's your blaster, fully fixed up and fitted with new charges." She added as Emily took it and placed it in her holster "I'm sure we can do something with that other holster at some point" Sabine continued, pointing to Emily's empty holster. Emily didn't really care, she was ok with what she had at the moment.
Later that evening, the twins were getting ready to sleep. Emily was already laying in bed whilst Sabine was getting ready. But as Sabine was getting into her bunk, she thought she could hear something coming from Emily's bunk below her. "Em?" Sabine asked, climbing back down. Emily didn't move. She seemed to not respond. But as Sabine leaned closer, she could hear Emily was crying. "Emily?" Sabine asked again. Emily continued to keep facing away from Sabine. But when Sabine placed her hand on Emily's shoulder, Emily jerked slightly and was now facing her twin, tears streaming down her face. "Oh Em" Sabine said quietly as she carefully sat down on the bed and hugged her twin gently, rubbing her back. Emily simply continued to cry, but seemed to accept Sabine's attempts to comfort her. "You want me to help you get some sleep?" Sabine asked softly and Emily nodded. "Alright then" Sabine replied.
As Sabine helped Emily get comfortable and perhaps a good night's sleep. She couldn't help but ponder Emily's situation. Emily was certainly not telling her something. And either it was because she didn't want to upset Sabine, or it was something that needed to get out of her before it became dangerous for her to bottle up inside of her. But then again. Sabine knew that feeling...
