Description  "Okay Ms. Wren, let's remove those bandages."  A medical droid said as it started to unravel the bandages that covered a part of  Emily's face and eye.  Being aboard Commander Sato's ship, she received all the medical attention she needed, and after weeks of being blindfolded and healing, it was time to remove the bandages.  The room was empty besides for Emily, the Medical Droid, and Sabine, who stood in the corner with her arms crossed.  The droid slowly removed the bandages one layer at a time. Emily was very nervous about what she would see once all the bandages were off.

"S-S-S-Sa-Sa-Sab?" Emily asked timidly, hoping Sabine was still there.

"I'm here, Em" Sabine replied softly, though her eyes were gazing down at the floor. She had been dreading this day. Each time a section of bandage was removed, Sabine felt worse and worse, she had a very very very bad feeling about what would happen. She had seen Emily's injury, though it was covered in blood, and when the final bandage was removed. Sabine looked up and her heart sank. Her hope was gone, the damage had been done. The droid brought a small mirror up so that Emily could see herself for the first time in weeks. Sure bacta tanks could have done the healing in record time, but Emily's case was not as serious as others, so she had to go through several weeks of pain and slow healing. When Emily looked into the mirror, she went stiff instantly. Her stomach tied itself into several knots when she saw the scar running down her face. And worst of all, the eye was milked over, no colour, nothing. Just a blank, scarred... Thing...

Without warning, Emily's hands darted for the bandages and she began desperately to wrap them around her head so she didn't have to see that face. That wasn't her face, that was a complete strangers face. The droid tried to stop her but she let out a shriek and kicked it backward. The droid lost it's balance and it fell over, slamming down hard onto the medical room floor. Sabine quickly put the helmet she had down and hurried to Emily's side. "Emily!" She cried as she tried to calm Emily down but Emily was just screaming now. Sabine was utterly horrified but turned back to the droid and saw it had one of the same shots that Emily had been given back on Tatooine. So she picked it up and injected into Emily's arm. Emily did keep screaming, but it slowly got quieter and then she slumped into Sabine's arms. Once she had gently lowered Emily down, tears began to fall down her face. As other Rebels came to see what had happened, they simply found Sabine weeping, a sleeping Emily in her arms.

"What do you think happened?" Zeb's voice came from outside Sabine and Emily's room. Emily was still in the medical bay, now receiving additional treatment following what Sabine had witnessed. She had made sure the droids said nothing of what happened to anyone, so only she knew.

"I don't know Zeb. But... Whatever it was. It brought Sabine to tears. Something... I've not seen before. Mandalorians are often known for being strong." Hera replied.

"Then Sabine probably has something she doesn't want to tell us" Kanan replied.

"Dear, she's just in there" Hera cautioned, knowing that Sabine was inside the room they were talking outside of. But Sabine wasn't listening to them. She was thinking about Emily. How she had freaked out... How she'd tried to cover her face back up. It was clear to her that Emily's injury had changed not just physically, but mentally too. And combined with her bad history as part of Locust, there was no doubt in her mind that Emily was mentally scarred by this, and nothing would change that...

It was the late evening when Emily woke up again, and she was rather surprised to see Ahsoka sitting in the chair next to the bed. Emily moved away cause she was scared of what Ahsoka would say about her face. "It's ok Emily. I won't judge" The Togruta said softly. Emily was still afraid of her, and didn't make eye contact, but she didn't move any further away. "scars don't mean you got hurt. They mean you survived, Emily" Ahsoka continued.

"B-B-B-B-Bu" Emily mumbled, unable to make her case.

"You're worried that this will change how people see you? We all wear mask, but which one is it? The one that hides your face? Or, the one that is your face?" Ahsoka asked. Emily didn't move but it told Ahsoka enough. "I understand Emily. But, please do think about what I've said" She said before placing an item on the bedside and she left Emily to be alone since she was still not in the right mindset. Once Ahsoka was gone, Emily quickly snapped up the item and looked at it with her other eye. It was an eye patch of sorts. She stared at it for a little while before she tried to put it on. She groaned when she couldn't get it on first time, but after a few tries she finally got it on, even if it was slightly uncomfortable.

Presently the door opened and Hera came in with Kanan following behind. Both were a little surprised to see Emily wearing an eyepatch, but understood she probably didn't want her eye to be seen. "Are you ok, Emily?" Hera asked in kind, still unsure if the girl was actually ok. Emily looked away and placed a hand on her lap whilst the other moved upward to adjust the eyepatch slightly. She made a quiet whimper as she looked down. "May I sit down with you?" Hera asked. Emily looked up for a moment, confused, but seeing the look on Hera's face, Emily nodded very slightly and the Twi'lek sat down beside her. "Emily, we want to help you through this. I know we can't understand what you feel in here" Hera said before gently pressing on where Emily's heart was located "But we want to try and help. Just as much as Sabine wants to help, even when she doesn't want to express how she feels" Emily looked confused at what Hera was saying.

"Sometimes, people, even the closest to you, have something they don't want to say. It's something we've had a hunch about." Kanan explained. Emily was still confused and Kanan sighed. "Sabine doesn't really express emotions, perhaps to you in private, but she's someone who expresses how she feels with actions. Her art is a example of that. When you disappeared, she would express how she felt by painting herself with you, hoping that you would come back and that you would be safe. Or at least that's what I think it's about" Kanan said, thinking about one of the art pieces Sabine had done aboard the Ghost before the ship was lost on Lothal.

"What Kanan's trying to say is that Sabine is very concerned for you following what happened. She want's the best for you"

Emily nodded slightly but still looked away.

"Do you want us to see if you can come back with us to our rooms?" Hera asked, gently taking Emily's hand. Emily looked at Hera for a moment before she looked away, but then she looked back. "Do you want to think about it?" She asked and Emily nodded. "Alright. We'll go ask and then come back" Hera said before she and Kanan left Emily to think about it. "How do you think she took that?" Hera inquired as they left the room and headed out to find someone so that they could take Emily back to their temporary quarters.

"She was certainly afraid. Not just of us, but I think everyone else on the base now."

"Did the force tell you that?"

"A bit. Her body language was the other sign. I'm sure you saw that too"

"Yes I did. She was very reserved. Whatever happened has definitely impacted her badly. But I think with time and care, we can help her get back to normal. Or to as normal as normal is for Emily." Hera said

"Certainly hard to tell what that would be with Emily given she's been with us for such a short amount of time"

"We just have to be grateful that she's still with us. I'm no Jedi or doctor but I can only assume she got off very lucky with that Lightsaber injury"

"Yeah." Kanan replied

Emily continued to sit on her bed, thinking about what Hera and Kanan had said to her. She had a feeling that they knew that she hated being stuck in a medical bay. It wasn't the first time she had been in this kind of situation, but it was the first time she'd been stuck in here for a long period of time. She'd been in a medical bay for a week or two. This time it was nearly a month and a half. And she was bored, it felt like a cell... A brightly coloured cell and it made her think of what had happened to her. Being captured by the Empire and mis-identified as Sabine, getting controlled by the former and then stolen by Locust to be used to bring further pain to many... Emily was unsure as to why her family were doing this for her. Wasn't she a massive issue for them? She was still pondering about this when Hera and Kanan returned. "We can take you back to our rooms, Emily. If that's what you want?" Hera asked. Emily was still a bit out as she thought but looked to Hera after a moment and without having heard the Twi'lek, she nodded. "Ok, come on then" Hera said and Emily got up and followed them.

Kanan stood behind Emily whilst Hera stood in front as they headed back to the crew's quarters. Emily was rather grateful that she had them with her, no-one was brave enough to mess with Hera. The crew's quarters wasn't far away and when it opened, Emily found Zeb with Chopper. Zeb was a little surprised to see Emily as neither had actually seen or talked to one another for a while. "Hey, Emily" He said, hoping she would reply but Emily didn't reply she shyed away.

"Sabine's in here" Hera began as she took Emily to Sabine's room. "Sabine? Em's here" Hera said after tapping on Emily's door. There was a silence for a moment and then the door opened so Sabine could see Emily. Emily went to open her mouth and say Sabine's name but Sabine hugged her. Emily was taken aback by Sabine's actions but hugged her back. "If you need some time, Sabine we-"

"Yeah. If that's ok with you" Sabine replied before Hera could finish.

"Ok, Sabine" Hera replied before everyone else headed into their own rooms whilst Sabine and Emily sat down at the table.

"How are you feeling?" Sabine asked after everyone had gone.

Emily just stared at Sabine, no answer leaving her lips.
"Not Great?" Sabine asked and Emily nodded before Sabine sighed. "You want to do some painting? I could paint the eyepatch if you want?" Sabine asked. Emily nodded but pointed to her patch and shook her head. Sabine understood, Emily didn't want her to see her eye. "Ok, Em. I won't paint it." The twins then headed into their shared room and began painting, Emily didn't do much of it but followed along with Sabine. It wasn't long before Emily got onto her bunk and tried to fall asleep. Sabine went to sleep about 2 hours later.

It was late at night when Emily got up again, she hadn't got much sleep but got up anyway and headed out into the main area that connected their temporary rooms together. Emily glanced at the other doors for a moment before she headed to their miniature kitchen, but as she was slowly making her way over, she stubbed her toe and silently cursed, grabbing her foot with both hands as she put her back against the wall and rubbed her toe. This was going to be a regular occurrence to Emily unless something changed. She put her foot back down a moment later and began to walk even slower than before, not wanting to stub her toe again, so this time she held her arms out to try and maintain a grip of the walls as she looked down at the floor with her remaining eye. It was only a few more steps to the kitchen and she made herself a light beverage before she slowly headed to the seating that they had and she sat down. She didn't drink her drink though, she just stared at it, seeing a reflection from a bygone time. The brown hair was messy, she was a little younger.

But she had both eyes then. Something that wasn't a familiar feeling to Emily. Emily closed her eyes and felt a cold wave rush over her. "N-N-N-No" she mumbled as she covered her ears and shut her eye, not wanting to hear their screams again. She suddenly jerked and whacked the cup aside, it's contents spilling onto the table and Emily ran off back to her room before anyone else woke up and saw the mess she had accidentally created.

It was only the next morning when Zeb stepped on the freezing water and yelped, bringing Hera and Kanan's attention to the main room where Emily's discarded cup still lay on the side. "Now who left that there?" Zeb groaned as he dried his wet and cold foot.

"Hmm. Hard to say. Sabine, Emily!" Hera called for the twins and Sabine appeared a little while later. "Where's Emily?" Hera asked.

"Em's still asleep, Looked like she didn't want to be disturbed" Sabine replied.

"Ok then. But I will need to talk with her. Were you up late again last night?"

"No. Why?"

"It's not that important, but someone left their cup spilled out on the floor and the table, so Zeb got a nasty surprise" Hera explained and Sabine let out a slight chuckle.

"So that's what that shriek was." Sabine commented.

"Rude" Zeb whined as a door opened and Emily appeared, looking very very tired.

"Did you not sleep well Emily?" Hera asked, seeing the sleep deprived girl and Emily shook her head. "Best go back to bed then, I'll come talk to you in a little while." Hera said and Emily nodded before heading back to her room to sleep.

"Sabine, did you go to bed before Emily?" Kanan asked.

"No. She went to bed quite early." Sabine replied.

Hera nodded and didn't say anymore, Emily's recovery and discovery of her loss of her eye had probably rocked the girl badly, she probably just needed time to recover. How long that would take, was of course another question that did not have an answer for.

Several Hours passed before Hera opened the door to the twin's temporary room, finding Emily seemingly still asleep, her back facing the door. "Emily?" Hera asked softly as she gently sat down on the bed and Emily half-jumped as she spun to see Hera by her side. "Easy, easy. It's just me" Hera said softly "How are you feeling?" She added. Emily of course couldn't respond because she was still rather distressed, but seemed to calm down after a few minutes, although she was still on edge a bit. "We're here for you, you do know that right?" and Emily nodded slightly, but was still rather shaken. "Things have been difficult for you, recently, and some of it we don't fully understand. But we want to help you where we can Emily."
