Description
The lights change and the set transforms to a dark prison cell. Caida whose is wearing a black hood on her head along with a black dress and Cody are with a guard. Cody glances around and hands the Guard a sack of gold.

Cody: (Smiles and quietly says)A word with the prisoner.

Guard: (Looks inside the sack and nods his head)Alright, Cody. But be quick about it.

Guard exits offstage while stashing the sack in his vest. Caida and Codyenter the cell that the Nubian King Hatchenarso [AN: He is Chef Hatchet fyi] in is. He is sitting on a stool looking at the floor in anxiety about his execution.

Caida: (Walks up to her father with tears in her eyes and takes the hood down from her head)Father? (stops right behind him)

Hatchenasro: (Glances over his shoulder and squints his eyes) Aida? (Seeing that it's really her he stands up and hugs her with love and smiles) I knew you would survive. (Looks at her and places his hands on her shoulders) That I trained my daughter well. (Hugs her again and chuckles) At least, I would not allow myself to believe anything else.

Caida: (Looks up at him with concern) Have they mistreated you?

Hatchenasro: (Releases her and shakes his head) No, I believe they are saving that part for my execution... (Looks at her) Three days from now.

Caida: (Shakes her head) It won't come to that. (Puts both hands on her father's hand and holds it up to her face) We'll get you out of here.

Cody: (Pulls Caida a little bit away and puts both hands on her should) In two days, the daughter of the Pharaoh will wed. (Holds out his other hand to the right) Most of the guards will be needed to control the crowds

Hatchenarso: (Notices Cody and smiles) And who is this young Minister of War?

Cody looks down to the floor in shyness once he sees the king notices him. Caida giggles a little bit and goes behind Cody and walks him up to her father.

Caida: (Stops them in front of her father) This is Cody. (Steps back a little bit leaving Cody in front of him still with his head down) You remember... Henu's boy.

Hatchenarso: (Smiles) Henu. (Puts his hands on Cody's shoulder making Cody looking at him) Your father was a great warrior. He had hopes you would grow up to be a scholar.

Cody: (Bows before him) Sire. (Gets up) The chief jailor will attend Sarah's wedding. They've assigned a lowly guard to take his place - a man I know. (Points to himself)

Hatchenarso: (Looks at him with suspicion) You are suggesting you may be able to bribe this guard?

Cody: (Nervously chuckles and fiddles with his hands nervously and walks to the other side of the King) Let's just say, we've done business in the past. (Winks at the king)

Caida: (Walks up to Cody in front her father) That would take a lot of gold

Cody: (Smiles and nods his head) I have it. (Takes out a sack of gold from his vest and looks inside of it) For years I've been stealing from the palace. (Looks at Caida and Hatchenarso) I thought maybe, someday, I could use it to get back to Nubia. (Goes up to the King) But if I can send my King home...

Hatchenarso: (Puts his hand on Cody's shoulder and smiles at him) We will all be going home soon, Cody. Now, how are the docks guarded?

Cody: By the Captain's soldiers.

Hatchenarso: (Walks away a little and rubs his chin) So the odds are slim. (turns around to face Cody) Can you use a sword, boy?

Cody: (In shock) Me? (Nervously says) Actually I'm better at providing encouragement from the sidelines.

Caida: (Walks up to the King and shakes her head) A fight won't be necessary. (Takes out Duncan's Amulet and shows it to him) They'll let us through.

Cody: (Gasps and runs up to her)Captain Duncan gave you that?

Caida: (Eyes widens and snaps her head to him and growls) Cody!

Hatchenarso: (Looks at her with anger) Who is this Captain? (Sees shes getting scared and realizes why)An Egyptian?!

Caida: (Nervously says) Y-Yes, but he's not like the others, father. (Puts her hand on his shoulder)

Hathenarso: (Shakes off her hand from his shoulder and angrily says) He leads Pharaoh's army, and he did not lay waste to our country like the others?

Caida: (Tears begins to form in her eyes and yells back) He regrets his past!!

Hatchenarso: (Grabs onto his shoulders)CAIDA! (Slightly shakes and loudly says) Do not shame yourself and me with such witless sentiment. Do not tell me this Egyptian grieves for the Nubian men executed, the women ravaged, and the children taken into slavery. (Lets go of the weeping girl) Any soft look you have given this Captain, any soft word, betrays the innocents who suffered at his hands and at the hands of every soldier he commands. (Looks straight into her eyes with an angry expression and grips onto her wrist roughly) You will cut this man from your heart.

Caida: (With tears streaming from her eyes and shakenly says) Y-Yes, Father

Hatchenarso: (Lets go of her wrists and shakes his head at her in shame) I would not have thought it possible that these Egyptians could give me one more reason to hate them. (He and Cody walks off in silence and exits the stage)

Caida was the only one on stage and a spotlight hits her. She looks up to the distance as a piano melody starts playing for the next songs and she sings.

Caida:
(With tears in her eyes)
This is the moment when the gods expect me
To beg for help but I won't even try
(Shakes her head slowly)
I want nothing in this world but myself to protect me
(Hugs herself)
But I won't lie down, roll over and die
(Walks to the back a little bit and turned around and looked out to the distance)

(Closes her eyes as more tears comes down her face)

(Looks back up)
Passion would have cooled and all the magic would have died

She walks further to the back of the stage till she is in the black shades on the stage. She then runs back up to the front of the stage and starts to sing again.

(Holds out her hands and bends over a little bit)

(Puts her hands onto her chest and squints her eyes)

(Looks up and Balls up her hands into fists)

(Puts down her hands and looks up sad)

(Goes down on her knees and closes her eyes remembering his touch)

(Crys as she sings)

She fully bends over her knees and weeps. But then a though came to her mind and she sat back up and hold her one arm out to the audience and sings.

But then I see the faces of a worn , defeated people
A father and a nation who won't let a coward run
(Holds out her arms and stands up)
is this how the gods reward the faithful through the ages ?
(Looks up and puts her hands together )
Forcing us to prove the hardest things we've done
(Throws her hands down and looks away)

(Looks at the audience with an angry look)

And though I'll think about him 'til the earth draws in around me
(Bends forward and makes a big circle with her arms )
And though I choose to leave him for another kind of love
(Stands up straight and points to the right with her arm)
This is no denial, no betrayal but redemption
(Sits on her knees again and holds up her fist)
Redeemed in my own eyes and in the pantheon above
(Looks up)
