Description "Another!" Fate yelled to the bartender as soon as she downed another shot of vodka. She slammed her shot-glass down onto the counter, earning a dirty look from the man working there.

"Don't you think you've had enough, Testarossa?" a husky voice asked sternly.

"Another," the blonde repeated, ignoring her companion.

The pink-haired woman turned to look at the bartender and shook her head, silently telling him he that could ignore any more orders from her friend. Then, she turned to Fate and grabbed the bottom of her elbow. "We're leaving."

The red-eyed woman shook off the intruding hand on her elbow and glared at Signum briefly before turning away. "Bartender, I said another!"

The knight had to tighten her jaw to stop herself from scolding at the blonde-haired woman like a child. After taking a deep breath, she stepped forward and delivered a well-deserved punch, powered with magic, causing Fate to fly out of the door from the impact.

"Thank you for your services," the pink-haired woman said to the shocked bartender. "And I apologize for my companion's rudeness."

With that, she exited the bar to look for her friend. After stepping out into the night sky, Signum watched as Fate slowly stood up.

"That was uncalled for, Signum," Fate growled.

"So is your attitude," returned the knight.

The enforcer turned her heels and began walking away, intending to find another bar. She wanted to stop thinking; wanted to forget about the events that happened less than twenty-four hours ago.

"Stop following me!" she yelled, noticing that Signum was trailing after her.

"I'll stop following you when you stop acting like a spoiled brat. What happened to you, Testarossa?"

"Fate-chan."

Nanoha's warm smile greeted Fate as she left her office.

"Nanoha," Fate replied, surprised to find her girlfriend leaning on a wall across from her door. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see you," the brunette replied.

"Weren't you going back to visit your world with Hayate-chan today?"

"There was a change of plans. I'll be going tomorrow, so I wanted to see you before I went. Want to go out for dinner?"

"Sure. Let's invite Hayate-chan and the others too. It's been a while since we've all went out together."

"I kind of just want it to be the two of us," Nanoha replied with a wink.

"Oh," Fate replied. Then, finally understanding what Nanoha meant, a blush slowly crept onto her face. "Oh... okay."

"Nothing," Fate replied, trying her hardest to stop remembering the events that led her to her current situation. "Nothing happened. I just want to be left alone."

"I cannot leave you alone at the state that you're in," Signum replied, her voice even.

"Just... go away!" Fate cried.

She clenched her fists and closed her eyes in an attempt to gain some semblance of control over her own emotions. When she realized that her actions were futile and that she was no closer to calming down, she turned around and punched the thing closest to her, which happened to be a pole.

"What happened to you...?" the pink-haired woman asked again.

"Nanoha?" Fate asked. "Where are we going?"

"There's this restaurant I've always wanted to try. You'll see soon enough," she replied.

Fate let out a noise of acknowledgement as she closed her eyes. Work has been taking a toll on her lately. She's been staying later and later each night, trying to finish all the paperwork on her desk, as well as keeping up with her other duties as an enforcer. Stressful didn't even begin to describe what she was feeling. But she could endure it, because she knew that Nanoha was doing her best as well.

"We're here, Fate-chan," Nanoha said as she poked Fate's sleepy face.

Fate made a low groaning sound as she slowly opened her eyes. She didn't really know where she was, but sure enough, she noted a restaurant close by. Stretching her body, she turned to her girlfriend and smiled.

"Ready then?" the blonde asked.

"I was waiting on you, sleepy-head," smiled the brunette.

"Nothing, damn it! Why won't you just leave me be?" Fate yelled.

Signum stared back at the girl she considered her rival. The person in front of her was a wreck. If it wasn't because Signum knew what the real Fate was like, she would have assumed the girl in front of her was a good-for-nothing street bum. For Fate to be acting this way, the only thing that could cause this is...

"Is it Nanoha?" Signum asked. "Did something happened to her?"

"I'm going to go to the bathroom to wash my face," Fate said to Nanoha after they have been shown to their tables.

"Okay," her girlfriend replied.

After Fate returned from the bathroom, she found that the waiter has already brought them water. Thankful for the fast service, she took several gulps of the liquid to quench the thirst leftover from her nap.

"Their water has an interesting taste," Fate noted to herself absently.

She watched her girlfriend take sips from her glass normally and decided that it was probably just her imagination. The rest of the meal was a blur to Fate, but she remembered vaguely that she didn't really care much for the food.

If looks could kill, Signum would have died. Thrice. The glare that Fate threw at her companion was nothing short of lethal. "One more word out of you, Signum, and I won't hold back anymore."

"I take it that means I was right. What happened with Nanoha?" Signum questioned, ignoring the threat.

Instead of answering the question, Fate called forth her weapon and armor. She wanted to make it clear that the words she spoke earlier was not just a threat, but a promise of what's to come.

"Don't be foolish, Testarossa. You cannot fight in your current, inebriated state," the knight said.

"Bardiche, zanber mode," Fate uttered under her breath as she tightened her grip on her device.

"Yes, sir," Bardiche answered, changing his form to the one desired by his master.

Sighing to herself, Sigum called for her own weapon and armor. She readied herself for battle, raising Laevatein into her normal battle stance. Seconds ticked by with neither mage moving a muscle.

"Is Nanoha alright?" the knight asked, after what seemed like a long time.

Fate initiated her attack, forcing Signum to block a few strikes. Then, both of them shot into the air and began a series of clashes.

"Nanoha?" Fate asked.

"Hm?" the brunette replied, but did not stop her actions.

"I'm tired."

"That's fine."

The brunette placed small kisses onto Fate's neck.

"I'm really tired..."

"Mhm, you already told me."

A hand found it's way underneath Fate's shirt.

"Can we do this some other time?"

"But I want you now."

The buttons on Fate's uniform has been undone, allowing the brunette to kiss the blonde's torso.

A well-executed swing from Signum penetrated through the enforcer's armor, causing the blonde to scream in pain as she plummeted to the ground. Signum placed a bind on her rival, ensuring that she would not be able to attack anymore.

"This is pitiful, Testarossa. Just look at you," Sigum chided. "What does any of this solve?"

"Shut up, Signum. You don't know what happened," Fate said, voice tired and dead.

"Then tell me."

The sun seeped through the blinds of her bedroom window. Fate shuffled the covers so that she could hide under them. When she did so, she noticed there was another body next to hers.

"Mm.. mornin' Nanoha," Fate said as she slowly turned around.

"Mornin' sweetheart," the other person replied.

Fate's blood ran cold as she stared at the other occupant of her bed. Her eyes widened as she frantically looked between her naked body and the stranger on her bed, who was equally unclothed.

"W-W-Who are you?" Fate asked, nearly yelled.

The other woman held a sly grin on her face as she answered, "Don't you remember the woman you made love to last night?"

"I did what?! I did-- not you! I-It was Nanoha!"

"Fate-chan?"

The new voice caused Fate to snap her head over to the source of the sound. "Nanoha? Nanoha, what are you-- No, this isn't what it looks like!"

"Then... then what is this?" the brunette asked, voice showing obvious pain.

"I don't know her! I don't know how she got here or why-- why--"

Before Nanoha could hear anymore, she bolted out of the apartment. Fate tried to chase after her, but then she realized she was naked. She dressed herself as fast as humanly possible before running after her girlfriend, but by the time she left the complex, she completely lost sight of Nanoha. She tried to search for her lover using Bardiche, but to no avail.

"I think I cheated on Nanoha," Fate replied.

Signum paused for a second before responding. "You think?"

"I was sure I was going out with Nanoha last night. I was sure it was her in my apartment last night... but this morning... it was someone else," the blonde explained.

"Who?" the knight asked, curious.

"I don't know her. At least, I don't think I do. I didn't recognize her."

"You need to explain this to her. Nanoha is an understanding person. She'll understand," Signum said, her voice soft.

"How? I don't even know where she is. And how do I explain that I -- with someone else, thinking it was her?" Fate replied, letting out a sad chuckle. "It's laughable. Who would believe me?"

The pink-haired woman smiled. "Testarossa, do you know you are really bad at lying?"

"Thanks. That makes me feel better," Fate replied sarcastically.

"Nanoha knows that," Signum continued. "Especially because it is Nanoha, she knows that you won't lie to her."

"Yeah, except I just cheated on her. That sort of takes away my credibility, don't you think?"

"Just explain to her what happened. At least TRY. Drinking doesn't solve anything. And the longer you let this brew, the worse it will get. Even if you don't think she'll listen, at least you tried. At least it shows that you didn't mean to do any of the things you did, and that you really do regret it."

"I know," the blonde sighed. "But how can I explain anything to her if she won't let me find her? I've tried everything."

"No, you haven't. Have you tried asking the knights for help?"

"I didn't want to get you involved."

"That's too late. I'm involved now."

Fate struggled briefly against the binds as her desire to stand suddenly grew. "Do you mind letting me go now?"

Signum released the binds on the other woman and stayed silent while she watched Fate stand up, loosening any kinks she had in her body.

"She's with Vita," the knight suddenly said.

"How did you-- nevermind. Thanks," Fate replied as she started running towards her destination.

Fate ran for what felt like hours, trying to push her legs to their limit. She would have used her sonic speed, but she has already depleted all her magic from the battle with Signum. Cursing herself for making that poor decision, she took a sharp intake of a breath and continued racing forward, ignoring the burning sensation in her throat.

She pounded harshly against the door as she gasped desperately for air. She would have yelled Nanoha's name if she could, but at the moment, her lungs demanded oxygen.

"What?" Vita yelled irritably as she opened the door. "Oh, it's you."

"Vi -gasp- ta. -gasp- Nano -gasp- ha, -gasp- here?"

"She just left a few minutes ago. What have you been doing?" the short redhead replied as she scanned the gasping woman in front of her.

"T-Thanks," replied Fate, still gasping for air. "D-Do you -gasp- know -gasp- where?"

"Home... are you okay?"

"Yeah. Thanks. G'night."

And with that, Fate turned around and began to run once more, hoping to catch her girlfriend soon. When she spotted a familiar back, she ran faster to try and catch up to her.

"Na -gasp- no -gasp- ha," Fate breathed out as she placed a hand on the person's shoulder.

The brunette slowly turned around, surprised to see her girlfriend look so desperately like she needed an oxygen mask. "Fate-chan?"

"Thank god," the blonde replied as she collapsed onto the ground, no longer able to use her legs.

The brunette watched the blonde gasp for air, waiting patiently for her girlfriend to regain the ability to talk.

"Nanoha, I'm sorry! Please, don't leave me!" Fate said as soon as her breathing regulated.

"I never thought you'd cheat on me, Fate-chan," Nanoha replied sadly.

"I know. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I mean, that was you... and then it wasn't you... and then you came and... I need you, Nanoha!"

"I was with back on Earth yesterday. You knew that..."

"I know, but then you said-- she said-- that you change your plans and that you wanted-- she wanted --"

Fate let out a frustrated growl. She wanted to explain this properly, but everything was jumbled up in her brain. She knew she wasn't making sense, but she was desperately trying to. She needed Nanoha to know. She needed Nanoha to understand that she never meant to do what she did.

"You came to pick me up last night. When I asked why you weren't back on your planet as planned, you said that there was a change of plans and that you were going today. And then we went out to dinner and we went back to my apartment... and-and... then this morning, you weren't-- the person next to me wasn't you... and then you came in and..."

"And...?"

"I don't know. I didn't mean to. I don't know who that woman was, I swear! I would never want to do something that would hurt you, Nanoha. Please, believe me!"

"I believe you..." the brunette smiled as she knelt down to meet Fate's eye level.

"You... do...?"

"Why do you seem so surprised?"

"I just-- I don't know..."

"Fate-chan. Do you know that you are a terrible liar?"

The enforcer smiled. "Someone told me that just recently."

"And besides, I know the name of the girl who was in your bed this morning."

"What? How? Who is she?"

"Nobody special. But I did have to look her up and give her a warning about touching what's mine," the brunette replied, a grin appearing on her lips.

"You... didn't happen to use Starlight breaker on her, did you?"

"That's a secret," Nanoha replied with a secretive smile.

"You definitely did then," Fate muttered to herself, but loud enough for her girlfriend to hear.

"Why would you think so?"

"A warning from the White Devil is always painful," Fate replied, letting her a smile take over her lips.

"Mm... shall we go back to my place?"

"Do I really have a choice?" Fate asked knowingly.

"Nope," the brunette replied. "I kind of want to get you cleaned up. You look like you've had a rough time."

"Mm..."

"Plus, I feel the need to disinfect you."

"Disinfect?" the blonde asked, confused.

"Mhm," Nanoha answered, donning a seemingly innocent smile. "Disinfect."

"Oh," Fate replied. Then realization hit her when she saw the twinkling in her girlfriend's eyes. Her cheeks turned to several shades of pink before she responded. "Oh... okay."

This is an excellently-written 'cheating' fic ;3
You slickly managed to have Fate cheat *without* it actually being her fault, or have it be something that she wanted. Very nicely done ;3
The story flowed very well, and keeps one fully intrigued to find out what happens at the end, and how Fate and Nanoha resolve the situation. I enjoyed~!

First I was sad, then I was depressed and then I was smiling and giggling at the end.

Great work onee-sama! Thanks for the great fic xDD Never would have guessed that the story would go like that, I thought it was Nanoha who cheated (seems like authors are prone to make her the unfaithful one =w. Thanks again xD

Haha, thanks. I just find it hard to believe that either of them would cheat, so yeah.

In any case, I am working on another fic at the moment. This one is Harry Potter. Trying to finish up the things on my request queue: [link]

I'm not sure if you know about my blog, but I try to update with vignettes when I'm not outputting fics.
