The Sword of Light once belonged to Taran, but after he renounced it, it has stayed dormant for years. After Susan Murphy's friends were killed by Negative Ginormica, it called out to Susan. Susan was unsure what the call was at first, but after Dylan Bishop explained what the sword was, she knew what she had to do.
She ventured out into the world to try to find the sword. She searched for days, and eventually found it in a stone. She reached out to try to pull it out, and the sword showed her a vision of what would happen if she failed to stop Negative Ginormica. She then saw a vision of Taran, who told her the sword was always meant for her. She then pulled the sword out of the stone and returned to Modesto, where Dylan was fighting Negative Ginormica by himself. He was just about to be killed when Susan stepped in and saved him. Susan Murphy had finally found what she was meant for.
