While not quite my thing (I like the purple and blue better) this one is very nice as well. I like the gold hints but I think the green hat is a bit much. It screams "Look at the hat!" Not all bad though, I suppose.

The texture and color on this dress is a gorgeous one and I think I would wear it...without the hat. I would be more likely to simply have the rose in my hair. Great work on it and thanks for sharing!

I did start with the purple and blue in this render, but got to thinking that there had to be a reason for the pineapple to be there so experimented with the dress colours. Can't decide which colour scheme I like best now. As to the hat, guess it is a little bold but then the leaves on a pineapple stand out as well

Thanks for looking and commenting

I see.

The hat is bold but it fits. I just don't tend to go for hats in general (top hats are a noted exception) so it's not just your work. The leaves on the pineapple do stand out and so it fits.

I got fed up of them blowing off ?

Who knows I guess my whole attitude to clothes has changed over the years. When I was younger I used to love dressing 'up' (didn't we all in the 80s? Or maybe you're too young to remember that). I'd create whole outfits which sometimes included a hat, especially for 'event' occasions. Nowadays I dress for comfort. You could say I embraced grunge with a passion Besides, I practically live in my Pilates gear as I teach most days

That's what hat pins are supposed to be for. I don't like them much myself because they're so long I end up poking myself in the scalp.

I remember it (barely) but the 90s are more there for me. Besides, I've seen shows from the 80s. I can remember thinking that those styles were so amazing. /snicker/ Now I look at it and say no way in hell. Not for me at least. I'm much more comfortable in clothes like what's on my dA ID. Though I do tend to dress for comfort many days. I like corsets but the boning in them is not meant to be forgiving.

Oh I had plenty of hat pins as I used to make and hire costume and fancy dress. I just tended to avoid them as my hair is so fine they had nothing of substance to 'grip' onto

No way would I wear any of those coat hanger shoulder padded jackets now. Beats me how we ever thought they were stylish I still like to get dressed up for special occasions though. Last few years we've been going to the annual opera performance. (For a small island, roughly 4x9 miles, we ridiculously have 2 opera houses!) Hubby puts on his kilt and I pull out the evening gowns

Ah yes, corset bones.... a definite case of suffering for fashion

Dragonia27 In reply to dylazuna [2012-02-22 03:20:26 +0000 UTC]

I understand. My hair is very thick and so I have no problem with things getting stuck in it.

It's surprising what the media can trick people into. I have no idea how they were fashionable either. Getting dressed up for special occasions is awesome! I love it. Hmmm....An opera performance. Sounds like fun!

Isn't it though? But I love the way they make me look...still, I like breathing more.

You'll have to get a made to measure corset, then you'll look good and be able to breathe as well (sort of)

The dress I made myself using the Marvelous Designer software [link] and the hat is Snooty from the London Vanity collection by Prae [link]

Thank you for the information. The dress is amazing! I would love to be able to get the program but its a bit expensive at the moment. Perhaps some day in the future. One question, after looking over some of the documentation, can you use the dress with different poses in Daz or did you have to add the rigging?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dylazuna In reply to Amethyst25 [2012-02-19 18:17:11 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately the full price is expensive although they did offer it at half price when it first came out. It can be seen as an investment though since if you become adept at using it, you can save on rigged clothing purchases

In theory I think you can rig the clothing exported from MD using the content creation toolkit in Daz pro (free at the moment) although I haven't done that as yet. I use MD itself as a dynamic clothing tool. Once I've created the pattern, I set up my required pose in Daz, export the posed figure as an object and load it into MD. You can load figures as Avatars for initial draping or as Morph Targets to dynamically pose the cloth. You then export the completed cloth object back to Daz. It sounds a lengthy process but really isn't, it works quite well as you can pull and drape the cloth exactly how you want it. Complicated poses might require 2-3 morphs targets to get the cloth to drape properly. For example, this one of Titania seated [link] needed an interim morph target before the final pose.

If you use Poser I think you can use the cloth room for posing/draping. Check out the Daz forums as there are quite a few threads on MD2.

Very lovely. The pose is really great and I love her face, but the mask looks like it should be falling to the ground.
Amazing!

dylazuna In reply to E-J-Works [2012-02-19 08:49:01 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

It's a bit like chop sticks. The handle of the mask is held between her two fingers lightly pressed into her palm and balanced against her thumb. Try it with a pen or thin stick ... it's quite secure
Although if she'd just taken it off you'd more likely see the back than the front of the mask, but she's just posed for the portrait. Ladies in those 'Old Masters' like to show off their long fingers

Ah, very true about showing off those long fingers.
I find posing hands (and some times feet)the hardest part to get just right myself. I really liked her elbow lightly resting on the stand and her hand at rest. Very graceful.

dylazuna In reply to E-J-Works [2012-02-19 18:22:40 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes, I could spend hours posing hands and fingers even using a 'starter pose'. The new Genesis figure has a lot of useful hand pose morphs built in though which speeds up the process. In fact posing Genesis in general is a whole lot easier then V4/M4 ever was.

I still love using the generation 3 figures, Aiko and Hiro mostly. I have so many freebies I've colected for them that I still haven't even used in a render yet.
I have problems with the V4/M4 morphs right now. I think it's the way they got installed last time.
I have Genesis, but I just haven't used it yet. I don't want to have to buy new items for him/her. But I may do something with the complete scene that came with Daz 4 pro. Did you know that it's free right now?

Anyway, you do lovely work.

I only started using Daz4 and Genesis this year. I upgraded to 4 when it came out, took one look at it, hated the interface and went back to 3. Then I discovered things rendered faster in 4, so used 3 to set my scenes up and 4 to render. When Reality 2.0 came out I decided it was time to try and get to grips with Studio 4. After several frustrating days I got my workspace set up how I liked it and fell in love with Genesis. I've been converting all of my OCs over to Genesis. Also a lot of people have complained about the autofit but I think it's great. I can use M4 clothes on females and V4 clothes on males and since it picks up all the bones of the base model, tweaking the fit is not too onerous. This M4 shirt fitted beautifully to tuck into her skirt [link] The Gen3 outfits don't work quite so well though, but at least Genesis can wear all of the Gen4 outfits. I haven't bought any clothing specially for Genesis yet.

Thank you for the compliment on my work, and yes I picked up the Pro version last week.

E-J-Works In reply to dylazuna [2012-03-03 17:32:48 +0000 UTC]

I tried the genesis auto fit and it works pretty good so far. But I don't have the money to invest in morphs and textures right now.
I really like the Gen3 figures and have all their morphs. So if I'm working on a detailed picture or something where character design is importent I'll stick with those. But if I just want to slap something quick togather that the character's faces aren't focused on I'll use the gen4 figures or Genesis.
Thanks for the pointers and sorry for being slow to reply.
Laters and happy rendering!

If you're a PA member, Daz have just added the Gen3 shapes to Genesis so the Gen3 clothing should fit now as well [link]
