It is also a common Arabic practice, especially as a bridal decoration. They use it to dye hair also. You can even find henna in the ingredients of your grocery store hairdye.

To make sure that you don't get black henna, one of the easiest things to do is check the ingredients. There shouldn't be any unfamiliar chemicals. If you can't read it (if it's in Arabic, Hindi, etc.) just don't get it. (It probably would be okay, though, especially if a picture shows the henna as a red/brown color and not black.)

no the paste comes from the henna plant and the longer u leave it on the darker and it dries due to air and falls off and is used to die hair red and black i am dieing my hair with it as we speak

very nice shot... could be clearer though... understandable that the hand doing the design is blur as it probably was moving... but the hand with the design could've been slightly clearer... or maybe the hand was moving too... but anyhows... a faster shutter speed? but nice shot... good idea and nice contrast of the red colours in it...
