To be clear, this comic takes place immediately after Penny apologizes and tells Jacob what she realized from the last comic.
They're gonna be okay. Honestly, nothing much is actually going to change between them. They just know how they feel about each other now.

The fact is that they are just kids. Kids who don't know any better. They tried a relationship, thinking they knew what love was, only to realize they didn't.

It's not just Penny who was wrong. Jacob didn't know either. And I mean wrong as in 2+2=7 kind of wrong, not morally wrong.
I'm just having Penny apologize because she was the one who exacerbated it, but even with all the mistakes they made, they still want to be in each other's lives as friends and I think that's beautiful.

I guess I wanted to show that, even when people make mistakes, friendship can prevail.
