Description Remember when I said distancing myself from work on Wikia would mean I'd put less time here into fan projects? Ha, those were the days... now I've gotten myself wrapped into another project exclusively for eyes here! It's funny how things work... but rest assured, the next few pieces of artwork after this will most definitely not be Paper Mario stuff. I've been spending my time working more on ironing the story elements out now that I've finished artwork for every single partner (and judging by reception from non-dA people, they finally seem to be a pretty well-rounded cast) and this guy is another character you'll be seeing quite a bit, similar to Archana.

Meet Mane-Koku! He's a curious cat creature with a penchant for using transformation magic. His current form is loathed and feared by many for his mysterious antics, so he's often found under the guise of various other forms to avoid all the chaos directed at him. However, his magic technique seems to be far from perfect, as the transformation ability seems to cause memory loss and peculiar actions. Cloaked in eternal darkness, poor Mane-Koku appears as only a shadow of his true self in an attempt to hide from his inner thoughts... but what caused this strange dark energy to consume him? Why has his magic power taken hostage of his memory? There are so many questions in need of answering, and it seems that this poor creature can't even remember the meaning of it all...

Throughout the game, Mane-Koku will act as a rival character that you'll battle multiple times throughout the story, not unlike Jr. Troopa or Lord Crump in their respective games. Although he'll use various attacks in his main form, you'll quickly become accustomed to him transforming into different beasts throughout his many confrontations, often commanding other enemies to fight alongside him. Mane-Koku is first met in Riverjade Ranch, shortly after arriving in the Hexad Isles. Mario sets out to pick up an electronic device known as the Joy-Tron Screen so that he can navigate his way to Peach's location using its built-in map. On his way, the plumber finds Mane-Koku commanding a swarm of Biddybuds to ransack the nearby crops so he can get something to eat. This begins the first of many, MANY battles between the two opponents...

It looks like a Chao from the Sonic series.
