Kirby: Squeak Squad is not a Kirby game I replay very often, but that's not to say it's devoid of good stuff; the titular band of mouse thieves are a really cool crew in terms of design and powers, and I'm super glad they came back for Kirby: Star Allies! I was fortunate enough to be able to draw one of the members for The Arena, an art jam on Twitter centered around drawing Kirby bosses. I've never really been a part of a big group collaboration like this before, but seeing everyone's entries has been super cool so far and I had a lot of fun making it!

In terms of art process, there isn't too much I can talk about with Spinni since he was pretty simple to get down, but I decided to spice things up by adding a more... stylistic background. Visual flair is not my forte, since I'm a bit more comfortable with environmental backgrounds or just transparency. However, I wanted to make something inspired by the box art of Kirby: Squeak Squad, which involves a lot of dynamic shapes and spotted backdrops. The Squeaker silhouettes were just a bonus to fill up the rest of the space!
