Description I painted this after reading about Anchorites. Anchorites are worshippers who would entomb themselves in a section of a church as a sign of their devotion. They would be ritualistically interred as if they had died.

I mixed these ideas with the idea of a mountain being a sacred place - and of the anchorite being truly dead.

I found this very evocative, and it made me very curious to read your explanation. It has a heavy feel of mythology in it- perhaps because the figures are statue-like in design and treatment. Nice job!
