Description I have suffered with agoraphobia most of my life. It has robbed me of many of lifes experiences and opportunities. I am better now, I struggle with driving, but am able to be out around people. I wanted to try and do a painting of agoraphobia.

This is my feeble attempt. Oh, and for those of you who dont know what agoraphobia is, it is the fear of going outside.

I suffer from this as well, but only for certain periods of time. Gorgeous painting. What medications have you tried, if you don't mind my asking?
I am currently on Celexa and Xanax.

I have been on xanax for 32 years... But mostly, I just slowly outgrew it. Lucky me!

Well I'm glad that you're able to get around now a bit, but I do know the feeling somewhat. I don't think I've suffered from it all my life but because of certain life experiences, I just don't like to go out anymore. But I do occassionally for dinner or to go shopping

I love your conception! You paint very well (I'm jealous!)

I am happy to hear that you are still able to go out!! There was a time, about 20 years ago, when I was totally house bound. It was a dark time in my life. I would get frightened if I looked out the window!!

I am so grateful that I am well now. That period of my life seems like a nightmare!

Thankyou!!

Only for fun things but still. Not like I'm afraid of the world, just afraid of what the world thinks of me...it's odd I'm glad you're better! Most welcome!

Anyone who says they dont care what people think is lying to themselves. We all have taken our turn at worrying about that!

Honestly my husband doesn't care and that gripes me. His daughter is very much the same but I think you're right deep down she cares. But my husband wears his fingernails and toenails way toooooo long and I HATE THAT WITH A PASSION! Of course when we were dating, he'd let me cut them, not anymore Then he has some funky eyebrowns that grow 10 feet out (exaggerating a bit here LOL) And he wears his pants low down cos he says it bothers his stomach But I guess his kind and loving ways outweigh those few quirks but man, he'd be perfect if he fixed them

It's interesting because the entire scene plays out 'indoors' and still fails to give any idea of the outside world. The obvious are used: Creatures of flight in a cage (which can get cliche), and what seems like centuries old dress as though you (or the figure) are a part of a play.

Your painting style is very whimsical and soft - as though you could put out a handful of similar works with ease.
